UIN Jakarta Issues Office Security Advisory Ahead of Eid al-Fitr and Nyepi Holidays

Rectorate Building, UIN Online News — Ahead of the joint holidays for Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH and Nyepi (the Balinese Day of Silence), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has issued an advisory urging all members of the university community to ensure the security and safety of campus offices before the holiday period.

The advisory is outlined in Rector's Circular Letter No. B-1964/R/RT.04/03/2026 concerning Office Security Measures Ahead of the Joint Holidays for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH/2026, dated 16 March 2026.

According to the circular, the university's joint holiday period will run from 18 to 24 March 2026. During this time, all academic and administrative staff are requested to ensure that their workspaces are secure before leaving campus.

In the circular, Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., emphasized the importance of taking preventive measures to safeguard university facilities throughout the extended holiday.

"In preparation for the joint holidays for Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH/2026, from 18 to 24 March 2026, all members of the university community are requested to observe the following measures to help maintain the security of campus offices," he stated.

The circular outlines several key precautions to be taken before the holiday begins:

  • Turn off electrical equipment. All electronic devices—including computers, printers, air conditioners, lighting, and other electrical appliances—must be switched off before leaving the office. Staff are also encouraged to unplug power cords to minimize the risk of electrical short circuits or fire.
  • Ensure water taps are fully closed. Members of the university community are asked to check that all faucets are securely turned off and free from leaks to prevent water waste and potential damage to facilities.
  • Maintain clean workspaces. Offices should be left clean and organized. Trash from desks, drawers, and surrounding areas should be properly disposed of before the holiday.
  • Secure important documents and valuables. Confidential documents, valuable items, and office equipment should be stored safely. Cabinets and drawers containing important files must be locked.
  • Lock doors and windows. Each unit is responsible for ensuring that all doors and windows are properly closed and securely locked before leaving the premises.
  • Coordinate with campus security. Any issues requiring attention during the holiday period should be reported promptly to the university's security personnel.

Through this advisory, UIN Jakarta encourages every faculty, office, and administrative unit to actively participate in maintaining the safety and security of the campus throughout the holiday period.

In line with the holiday schedule, all public services at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta will be temporarily suspended from 18 to 24 March 2026. Members of the public and other stakeholders are kindly requested to take note of the temporary service interruption. Normal operations will resume once the holiday period concludes.
