UIN Jakarta FLAT Showcases Linguistic and Cultural Attributes to Encourage Young Generation in Lingua Festival 2025

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Online News — The FLAT (Foreign Language Association) of Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta conducted a talk show during the Literature and Language (Lingua) Festival 2025, focusing on scholarships and education, as well as youth development, language, and culture, under the theme "Exploring Youth Potential Through Language and Culture" at the Harun Nasution Auditorium on Thursday (18/09/2025).

On multiple occasions, the Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Ahmad Tholabi S.Ag., S.H., M.H., M.A., asserted that language may enhance and facilitate prospects for collaboration within the national sphere.

"Language can both fortify and facilitate a collaborative environment in the national sphere," he stated.

Furthermore, he conveyed his gratitude to the FLAT's student activity initiatives at UIN Jakarta for their efforts in enhancing students' language and cultural competencies through innovative linguistic concepts.

"We, the academic community at UIN Jakarta, commend the FLAT for their endeavors to introduce innovative concepts and enhance students' proficiency in linguistic and cultural domains," he stated.

Ani Nigeriawati, the Director of Public Diplomacy at the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, elucidated that the lingua festival, organized by the FLAT, serves as a competition and a platform for refining communication skills and comprehending cross-cultural distinctions.

“This language festival serves not merely as a competition, but as a platform to refine both our linguistic competencies and performances by clearly articulating our thoughts and actively engaging in verbal communication," she shared.

Sucahyono, S.E., M.Sc., a participant in the IELSP Cohort 10 at Iowa State University, articulated his aspiration to reach higher attainable goals than the skies, asserting that an intelligent individual learns from trial and error.

"If your dream does not scare you, it is not big enough. Dream big, even when everyone thought you were crazy until you proved them otherwise," he encouraged.
