UIN Jakarta Commemorates National Education Day on May 2, Reaffirms Education as a Pillar of National Development
Student Center Field, UIN News Online – UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a ceremony to commemorate National Education Day (Hardiknas) on Friday, May 2, 2025, as a reaffirmation of its commitment to providing quality education. The event took place at the Student Center field and was attended by university leadership, academic staff, and various student organizations (Ormawa).
Vice-Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, MA., Ph.D., served as the ceremony inspector. The reading of the Preamble to the 1945 Constitution, Pancasila, and prayers were delivered respectively by Salamah Agung, M.A., Ph.D. (Vice Dean for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Partnerships of the Faculty of Educational Sciences), Dr. Eva Nugraha, M.Ag. (Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Faculty of Ushuluddin), and Dr. Asyari Hasan, M.Ag., C.M. (Vice Dean III for Student Affairs, Faculty of Economics and Business).
In his address, Prof. Ali emphasized that the National Education Day ceremony is not just an annual formality but a moment to reflect on the constitutional mandate to educate the nation. He stressed that discrimination has no place in education, which is a fundamental human and civil right. "No citizen should be denied education based on skin color, ethnicity, or religion," he stated.
Inclusive education, he added, is a key element of national development. Individually, education is a primary tool for shaping human nature as inherently educable beings.
Since October 2024, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) has been making efforts to promote quality education through a curriculum that emphasizes not only academics but also character development.
Rasyid Ridha, President of LDK Syahid and student representative, expressed his thoughts on the commemoration. He viewed the event as a reminder that today’s educational opportunities are the result of past struggles and must be seized wholeheartedly.
"Education today is a privilege. National Education Day should be both a moment of reflection and gratitude for everyone who benefits from education. Let us show our gratitude by studying diligently and purposefully," Rasyid remarked.
Before concluding, participants joined in prayer, expressing their hopes and aspirations for a better future in education. The ceremony reinforced UIN Jakarta’s commitment to continually improve its educational infrastructure and contribute to progressive innovations through research and development.
