UIN Jakarta and Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Sign Partnership to Strengthen Education and Human Resource Development

Jakarta, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and the Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Government have officially established a strategic partnership to enhance regional human resource development while expanding collaboration in higher education, research, and community engagement. The agreement was formalized through the signing of a memorandum of cooperation at the Rectorate Building, Campus I, UIN Jakarta, on Thursday (12 March 2026).

The cooperation agreement was signed by Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., and Regent H. Teddy Meilwansyah, S.STP., M.M., M.Pd., in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.

Through this partnership, both parties expressed their commitment to strengthening collaboration between higher education institutions and local government in support of regional development, particularly in the areas of higher education, research, and community service.

In his remarks, Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar emphasized that collaboration with regional governments is an essential part of the university's mission to contribute meaningfully to national and regional development through the advancement of human capital.

He also expressed hope that the partnership would lead to a range of practical initiatives, including the placement of UIN Jakarta students in Community Service Program (KKN) projects across Ogan Komering Ulu Regency.

"Through the Community Service Program, our students can engage directly in community empowerment initiatives at the local level. We hope that Ogan Komering Ulu Regency will become one of the destinations for UIN Jakarta students to carry out meaningful community service," he said.

Meanwhile, Regent Teddy Meilwansyah expressed optimism that the collaboration would create broader educational opportunities for students from Ogan Komering Ulu, particularly those aspiring to study at the Faculty of Medicine of UIN Jakarta.

According to him, producing more medical professionals from the region is essential to improving healthcare services for local communities.

"We hope this partnership will produce more doctors from Ogan Komering Ulu who will return to serve their own communities. Their presence will strengthen local healthcare services and ensure that residents have access to dedicated medical professionals whenever they are needed," he stated.

The signing ceremony was also attended by members of the UIN Jakarta leadership, including Vice Rector for Cooperation Din Wahid, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Achmad Zaki, vice deans of the Faculty of Medicine, and the university's cooperation team.

Through this agreement, both institutions aim to strengthen collaboration in expanding access to higher education, promoting applied research, and implementing sustainable community empowerment programs.

Looking ahead, UIN Jakarta and the Ogan Komering Ulu Regency Government expect this partnership to generate concrete initiatives that deliver tangible benefits to local communities while supporting sustainable regional development.
