UIN Jakarta and IEGI South Korea Collaborate on Green Campus through Project-Based International Exchange
Diorama Room, UIN Online News — The Incheon East Asia Global Education Institute (IEGI) of South Korea conducted a visit to Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta for the International Exchange Program in the Diorama Room on Thursday (18/09/2025).
The event aimed to cultivate insights into the advancement of Green Campus and enhance global citizenship ties between UIN Jakarta and IEGI, South Korea, under the topic "Global Citizenship Project-Based International Exchange Program."
The visit included the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D.; the Head of the International Office, Prof. Arif Zamhari, M.Ag., Ph.D.; the Head of the Green Campus Development Center, Eny Supriyati Rosyidatun, S.Si., M.A.; the Head of the IEGI Delegation, Min Song Gyoo; and his staff.
The Rector of UIN Jakarta stated that the purpose of this tour was to emphasize that environmental awareness is a collective responsibility with the significance of the future of Earth at stake.
"We must unite to preserve the world as a collective legacy and obligation to our generation," he called.
The presentation was delivered by Eny Supriyati Rosyidatun, S.Si., M.A., with UIN Jakarta as a profound example implemented in various Green Campus initiatives and amenities: water drinking fountains for convenient bottle refills to minimize plastic waste, solar panels to decrease reliance on fossil fuels and carbon emissions, waste banks for converting waste into currency, and eco-enzymes produced to promote environmental cleanliness and support plant growth.
"The significant number of UIN Jakarta students using private vehicles has necessitated the establishment of parking management and the deployment of electric buses, as these vehicles contribute to air pollution near the campus. Therefore, UIN Jakarta begins to promote an eco-friendly atmosphere," she mentioned.
Kim Taeho, a participant from the Incheon East Asia Global Education Institute, expressed his enthusiasm during the visit and expressed a desire for the establishment of a Green Campus program in Korea.
"I hope that the Green Campus model, as in UIN Jakarta, will also be implemented in Korea," he expected.
Accompanying the children, Elementary School Teacher Lee Jin-soo expressed that he found the exercise quite amazing due to the effective implementation of the SDGs at UIN Jakarta.
"This worldwide collaboration is a cross-nation bridge to share the knowledge acquired in Korea, dedicated to the whole academic community in environmental research. Meanwhile, today's activities mark the inception of his accomplishments," he shared.
The program culminated in a Tree Planting Ceremony in the courtyard of the UIN Jakarta landmark, followed by a Campus Tour with the Electric Bus—a must-have transportation in the Green Campus program.
IEGI is a global educational oversight organization based in Incheon, East Asia. IEGI links schools in the Incheon region with institutions in Japan, Southeast Asia, China, and other nations, providing training for educators and students on topics including peace, global awareness, labor concerns, environmental challenges, and unification.
