Masjid Fathullah UIN Jakarta Marks Ramadan 1447 H with Free Iftar, Tarawih, and I'tikaf Programs

Masjid Fathullah, UIN Online News — Throughout the holy month of Ramadan 1447 H, Masjid Fathullah at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta is once again hosting a wide range of religious and community programs to enrich the spiritual experience of both the university community and the public. The month-long initiatives include free daily iftar meals, one-juz Tarawih prayers, zakat collection and distribution, and i'tikaf during the last ten nights of Ramadan. The announcement was made at Masjid Fathullah on Friday (13 March 2026).

Chair of the Masjid Fathullah Mosque Council (DKM), Dr. Asyari Hasan, M.Ag., CM., reaffirmed the mosque's commitment to providing a welcoming and spiritually enriching environment throughout Ramadan.

"The Mosque Council is fully committed to supporting the worship needs of all congregants during this blessed month. We hope Masjid Fathullah will continue to serve as a comfortable and conducive place where members of the university community and the public can observe Ramadan through the various programs we have prepared," he said.

Regarding the mosque's daily services, Ust. Andy, a member of the Ramadan organizing committee, explained that providing meals for those breaking their fast remains one of the mosque's primary priorities.

"Every day, Masjid Fathullah provides between 200 and 300 free iftar meals. During the last ten nights of Ramadan, we also prepare 80 to 100 sahur meals each night for students, travelers, and worshippers participating in i'tikaf," he explained.

The free iftar and sahur services have been warmly welcomed, particularly by students living near the campus. Dina Sri Cahyani, a student of the Qur'anic Studies and Interpretation program, expressed her appreciation for the initiative.

"As a student living away from home, I am truly grateful for the free iftar program. It eases our daily expenses while making Ramadan on campus feel warm, meaningful, and productive," she said.

Each afternoon's program begins with a pre-iftar religious talk (kultum) delivered by distinguished professors and lecturers from UIN Jakarta representing various academic disciplines, offering religious insights and spiritual reflection for attendees.

One of the mosque's signature Ramadan traditions is its one-juz Tarawih prayer, during which one complete juz of the Qur'an is recited every evening.

"This has become one of Masjid Fathullah's unique traditions. Although the prayers are longer, many worshippers appreciate the opportunity to complete the recitation of the Qur'an during Tarawih throughout Ramadan," Ust. Andy added.

During the final ten nights of Ramadan, the mosque will also host a comprehensive i'tikaf program designed to help worshippers seek the blessings of Laylat al-Qadr. According to the official schedule, the program will include Qiyamul Lail, Tasbih Prayer, Tahajjud Prayer, and guided sessions of muhasabah (self-reflection) on the odd-numbered nights.

The i'tikaf sessions will be led by prominent Islamic scholars and senior academics from UIN Jakarta, including Dr. Zubair Ahmad, Dr. KH. Akhmad Sodiq, Prof. Dr. Asep Usman Ismail, Prof. Dr. KH. M. Amin Suma, and Dr. KH. M. Nurul Irfan. Their participation is expected to enrich both the intellectual and spiritual dimensions of the program.

Beyond its worship activities, Masjid Fathullah also provides zakat, infaq, and sadaqah (ZIS) collection and distribution services ahead of Eid al-Fitr. This year, the mosque expects to distribute approximately Rp200 million in zakat funds collected from members of the university community and the wider public. The funds will be distributed to eligible beneficiaries (mustahiq) living around the campus and surrounding neighborhoods.

The vibrant Ramadan atmosphere at Masjid Fathullah is also made possible through the active involvement of student volunteers. Muhammad Furqon, Chair of the Masjid Fathullah Youth Association (IRMAFA), explained that students work together every afternoon to prepare and package hundreds of iftar meals.

"Alhamdulillah, these activities truly bring the mosque to life. Every afternoon we work together to prepare the iftar meals, break our fast as a community, and create a vibrant atmosphere throughout Ramadan," he concluded.
