China Silk Road Guangdong Partners with UIN Jakarta to Drive the Global Halal Supply Chain
JAKARTA, UIN Online News – In a milestone alliance that bridges advanced laboratory research, global trade regulations, and transnational education, UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Silk Road Guangdong International Certification Co., Ltd. This high-level partnership with the prominent Chinese certification body aims to accelerate the digitization of the global halal ecosystem while creating expansive academic and professional pipelines for researchers and students.
The formal signing ceremony, hosted at the UIN Jakarta Rectorate, brought together the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Professor Asep Saepudin Jahar, Ph.D., the Head of the UIN Halal Examination Agency (LPH), Dr. Yusraini Dian Inayati Siregar, and the Legal Representative of the Chinese firm, Mr. Zhang Ye. The scope of the alliance covers digitized halal certification, joint research ventures, cross-border IT integration, and fully funded scholarship pathways in China for UIN Jakarta’s academic community.
During the summit, Rector Asep Jahar emphasized that university-backed halal agencies must evolve past traditional, passive auditing roles. Instead, they must position themselves as aggressive innovators and market makers within the multi-billion-dollar global halal economy.
"Our Halal Examination Agency must champion continuous operational innovation," Rector Jahar stated. "We cannot settle for routine, transactional inspections. UIN Jakarta must serve as an active creator, technological innovator, and a highly influential strategic partner on the global stage."
This reputation for forward-thinking leadership was the primary driver behind the Guangdong-based firm’s decision to anchor its Southeast Asian industrial expansion at UIN Jakarta.
"In China, UIN Jakarta is widely recognized as a premier, state-led academic institution at the absolute forefront of its field," Mr. Zhang Ye remarked. "This gives Chinese enterprises immense confidence that UIN Jakarta possesses the rigorous scientific infrastructure and institutional integrity required to build a world-class halal supply chain."
To ensure a sustainable talent pipeline, the international certification body has committed to providing full academic scholarships for outstanding UIN Jakarta students and faculty members to pursue undergraduate, master's, and doctoral degrees at elite universities in China. This academic mobility scheme will run parallel to aggressive technical collaborations, including the potential establishment of a joint halal testing laboratory in China.
Furthermore, the partnership focuses heavily on automating the certification process through advanced information technology. Traditional paper-based documentation, compliance reporting, and audit trails will be fully integrated into a centralized digital platform to ensure maximum transparency and efficiency.
Dr. Sandra Hermanto, Executive Director of the Center for the Study and Development of Halal Product Assurance (P3JPH), highlighted the massive career leverage this provides for students. "This opens immediate international horizons. Our students will gain access to global internships, short courses, and professional development paths specifically focused on IT integration and global compliance standards," he noted.
The operational execution of this international alliance will heavily engage UIN Jakarta's powerhouse STEM faculties, specifically the Faculty of Science and Technology, the Faculty of Health Sciences, and the Faculty of Sharia and Law. To maintain the highest standards of international regulatory independence, the university will strictly separate its auditor training programs from commercial consultancy wings, effectively neutralizing any potential conflicts of interest.
"Modern halal auditing is deeply rooted in advanced bio-molecular sciences," added LPH Head Yusraini. "Global supply chains require highly specialized experts with rigorous backgrounds in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacy, Fisheries, and Veterinary Medicine. This partnership allows our science graduates to immediately step into elite, specialized roles as certified international auditors."
By aligning its scientific capabilities with China’s massive industrial market, UIN Jakarta is solidifying its trajectory as a world-class research university. The partnership stands as a prime example of how modern educational diplomacy can successfully synthesize commercial innovation, scientific data, and ethical market standards to drive the global economy forward.
