Associate Professor Dr. Abdelghani Yahyaoui is an academic and specialist in Islamic law (fiqh) and its principles (uṣūl al-fiqh) from Morocco. He currently serves as Professor of Fiqh and Uṣūl al-Fiqh at the Faculty of Uṣūl al-Dīn, Abdelmalek Essaâdi University, Tetouan, Morocco.
He holds a Doctorate in Fiqh and Uṣūl al-Fiqh from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University, Fez, reflecting his strong academic foundation in Islamic legal studies. In addition to his core academic responsibilities, Dr. Yahyaoui is actively involved in institutional and administrative roles. He is a Member of the Faculty Council at the Faculty of Uṣūl al-Dīn, Tetouan, and serves as Coordinator of the Islamic Thought, Philosophy, and Religious Studies Program. His expertise is also recognized in the field of applied ethics, as evidenced by his membership in the Ethics Committee of the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy, Tangier, as well as the Medical Heritage Committee in Fez.
Dr. Yahyaoui’s research and scholarly interests focus on the application of maqāṣid al-sharīʿah (the higher objectives of Islamic law) in contemporary contexts, particularly in relation to bioethical and social issues. His publications address topics such as stem cell therapy, organ transplantation, health security, and medical responsibility, analyzed through the lenses of Islamic law and ethics. His selected books and articles demonstrate a strong interdisciplinary approach, bridging classical Islamic scholarship with modern medical, ethical, and societal challenges.
As a reviewer for several academic journals and conferences, and as an active participant in national and international scholarly forums, Dr. Yahyaoui has established a solid reputation within the global academic community.
Through his deep expertise in fiqh, a maqāṣid-based methodological approach, and sustained engagement with contemporary medical ethics, Dr. Abdelghani Yahyaoui offers a distinctive and valuable perspective. His prospective appointment as an International Adjunct Professor is expected to enrich academic discourse, strengthen research collaboration, and contribute meaningfully to the development of contextual and socially relevant Islamic studies at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta.
