30th Anniversary Celebration: UIN Jakarta’s Faculty of Psychology Strengthens Innovation and Contribution to Psychological Science
Zakiyah Daradjat Theater, UIN Online News — The Faculty of Psychology at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta celebrated its 30th Dies Natalis (anniversary) on Saturday (April 26, 2025), featuring a series of academic and non-academic activities held across the Faculty’s premises. Events included the Shine Festival, Job Fair, Psychofair, Research Day, X-Mantra, and a Fun Run, all aimed at reinforcing the Faculty's role as a center for the development of psychology rooted in Islamic and humanitarian values.
Carrying the theme “Innovating for the Future”, the event served as a moment of reflection on the Faculty’s achievements in academics, research, and community service over the past three decades.
Representing the Rector of UIN Jakarta, Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof. Ali Munhanif, M.A., Ph.D., expressed his appreciation for the Faculty’s journey as the first general faculty after IAIN Jakarta’s transformation into UIN Jakarta. He encouraged the Faculty of Psychology to continue advancing academic excellence and societal contributions.
"The Faculty of Psychology must become a locomotive of change in the development of knowledge based on Islamic and national values. We hope it will continue to produce innovation, broaden its contributions, and actively participate in building a better Indonesian society," said Prof. Ali.
Head of the Psychology Study Program and Chair of the Anniversary Committee, Mohamad Avicenna, Ph.D., Psi., also conveyed his hope that the Faculty would remain a pioneer in producing academics and practitioners who contribute significantly to the advancement of psychology both nationally and internationally. According to him, this 30th anniversary celebration is an important moment to strengthen innovation, academic quality, and the commitment to developing psychology based on Islamic and humanitarian principles.
"This 30th Dies Natalis is not merely a celebration, but a reminder for all of us to maintain the spirit of innovation, improve quality, and expand the Faculty's contributions in addressing the challenges of our time," he said.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr. Yunita Faela Nisa, M.Psi., Psi., emphasized the importance of enhancing the Faculty’s positive impact, in line with its tagline: “Psychology for a Better Life.”
The peak event featured a Scientific Oration by Prof. Bambang Suryadi, Ph.D., entitled “Transforming Education through Deep Learning: The Role of Psychology in Improving Education Quality for All.” In his oration, Prof. Bambang highlighted the crucial role of educational psychology in addressing the phenomenon of "schooling without learning," and encouraged the implementation of learning methods that foster students’ critical thinking skills.
In closing, Prof. Bambang called on the entire academic community to never be complacent, to continue innovating, and to actively contribute to shaping the future of Indonesian education.
