Jakarta, UIN Online NEWS– Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSL) UIN Jakarta and the International Shari’ah Research Academy for Islamic Finance/ISRA) Malayasia agreed to sign a five-year cooperation contract on academic development, research, international publication for Islamic economics and financial resources training.

The agreement was officially signed by the ​​rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada, MA and ISRA Executive Director, Prof. Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin at the opening of the International Seminar on Sharia Transactions and 9th Mudzakarah Nusantara Islamic Scholars in Jakarta, Wednesday (10/06). There witnessed the Dean of FSL, Dr Asep Saepudin Jahar MA, the Director of Research and Development, Settings, and Islamic Banking Licensing, OJK Ahmad Buchori and the Vice Deans of FSL.

After signing, the rector showed his gratitude and highly appreciated the cooperation between FSL UIN Jakarta and ISRA Malaysia and wished the success of academic development, research and application of Islamic economics in Indonesia. “We have to admit, Malaysia has already been the leading of developing this Islamic economics system.” He further added.

On the same occasion, Akram welcomed the willingness of FSL UIN Jakarta to cooperate with ISRA . In his statement, FSL as a faculty in one of the leading Islamic universites in Indonesia has owned adequate resources capable of creating researches to develop Islamic economics and financial system.

“By this cooperation agreement, we can learn from each other and share experiences for the development of this economics system although we have different political state, but as a Muslim-majority country, we have the same spirit to develop this economics system.” he said.

For your information, ISRA is an academic institution focussing on research on Islamic finance and Shariah application including banking, capital markets, takaful and fatwas in Islamic finance. In this regard, it serves as a knowledge repository in sharia which oversees some studies on issues of Islamic finance industry and it even enggages in strengthening Islamic finance resources. (zm)
