Welcoming UPNM Malaysia Delegation, UIN Jakarta Strengthens Students’ Global Leadership

Diorama Room, UIN Online News — UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta warmly welcomed an honorary visit from the delegation of Universiti Pertahanan Nasional Malaysia (UPNM) as part of the Global Leadership Outreach Program: Regional Youth Leadership for Student Development and Wellbeing, held on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, in the Diorama Room. This event served as a strategic platform to strengthen inter-university networks in the region and to foster the emergence of young leaders with global perspectives and a strong awareness of personal development and student wellbeing.

The event began with participant registration managed by the organizing committee, followed by an opening session led by UIN Jakarta Ambassadors, Syarif and Zara. In his remarks, Sharizan bin Samad from UPNM’s Counseling, Career & Alumni Center expressed hope that the program would be the beginning of a series of sustainable collaborations. “Hopefully, this won’t be the only program. We look forward to future activities and hope the UIN Jakarta academic community can also visit our campus,” said Sharizan.

Dr. Sri Ilham Lubis, Lc., M.Pd., Head of the Bureau of Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation at UIN Jakarta, welcomed the UPNM delegation. “Welcome to the UPNM delegation. This event proves the strong ties between UIN Jakarta and foreign universities. It serves as an important platform to exchange ideas and experiences in leadership,” she stated.

After an ice-breaking session between UIN Jakarta and UPNM participants, the event continued with various presentations. Nur Sazwina Kamila Binti Abdullah, President of the Peer Leaders Club at UPNM, presented their student leadership programs and activities. From UIN Jakarta, presentations were delivered by Zaenal Muttaqin, M.A. (Academic Affairs), Muhammad Furqon, M.A. (Student Affairs), and Muhammad Kholis Hamdy, S.Sos.I., M.Int.Dev. (Career Development).

The sharing and Q&A session was interactive, reflecting participants’ enthusiasm in exploring various topics on leadership development and student wellbeing. The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between institutional leaders and a group photo session. Through this program, stronger collaboration is expected between UPNM and UIN Jakarta, especially in youth leadership and student development at both regional and global levels.
