UIN Jakarta's Faculty of Sharia and Law Launches Dialektika Podcast, Produces Digital Content on Sharia and Legal Issues
Jakarta — The Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta has officially launched a digital platform in the form of a podcast titled Dialektika, which will regularly discuss issues related to sharia and law.
Dean of the Faculty of Sharia and Law, Muhammad Maksum, stated that the Dialektika Podcast aims to engage the academic community in public issues. “We want to take part in national issues through digital space. In reality, legal discourse at the national level often intersects with sharia aspects,” said Maksum during the soft launch of the Dialektika Podcast in Jakarta, Monday (April 28, 2025).
Prof. Maksum, a prominent scholar in Islamic economic law, further explained that the podcast also aims to strengthen public recognition and the reputation of the Faculty’s academic community. “Our hope is that public discourse on law and sharia can be enriched by the voices of the Faculty of Sharia and Law at UIN Jakarta,” he added.
On the same occasion, Head of the Production and Creative Media Team (Academic Production House) of the Faculty, Ferdian Andi, mentioned that Dialektika offers various segments as a platform for the academic community to share their ideas.
“These include discussions on current issues in sharia and law, reviews of professors’ thoughts, dissertation reviews, and literature discussions. This podcast serves as a medium of articulation and dialectic for the academic family of the Faculty of Sharia and Law,” explained Ferdian.
The inaugural episode of Dialektika featured Prof. Dr. Mesraini, M.Ag., a professor of Fiqh al-Munakahat (Islamic Family Law) and the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs. The episode, released in commemoration of Kartini Day (April 21), raised the theme “Women and Islamic Family Law.”
In her talk, Prof. Mesraini emphasized that Islam positions husband and wife in a partnership, not in domination. “Islamic legal doctrine is not built on domination, but on partnership, equality, mutual need, and complementarity,” said Prof. Mesraini as quoted from the Dialektika Podcast.
The Dialektika Podcast by the Faculty of Sharia and Law can be accessed via YouTube and is also available on Spotify. New episodes are scheduled for release every Monday at 4:00 PM (WIB), featuring diverse content including current issue discussions, reviews of scholarly thoughts, and explorations of the latest academic work by faculty members.
