UIN Jakarta Welcomes Delegation from Bunkyo Gakuin University, Japan, Prepares Student and Faculty Exchange Program
Main Conference Room, UIN Online News — Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta welcomed a delegation from Bunkyo Gakuin University (BGU), Japan, on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The meeting, held in the Main Conference Room on the 2nd floor of the Rectorate Building, focused on strengthening international cooperation between educational institutions and partners, and discussed concrete plans for student and faculty exchanges as well as research collaboration.
The visit was attended by delegates from Bunkyo Gakuin University, representatives from the Sakuranesia Foundation, the Artificial Intelligence Center Indonesia (AICI) from Universitas Indonesia, as well as UIN Jakarta’s leadership and international cooperation officers. The discussion was dynamic and enthusiastic, marking the beginning of stronger academic relations among Asian nations.
It was conveyed during the discussion that a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signing is planned to take place online in the near future. This document will serve as the official foundation for the strategic partnership between BGU and UIN Jakarta, particularly in student and faculty exchange programs and research collaboration opportunities. Although the MoU had not yet been signed at the time of the meeting, both parties expressed strong and positive commitment to the partnership.
A representative from Bunkyo Gakuin University, speaking in Japanese, emphasized the importance of cultural exchange and cross-national understanding through higher education programs. The Sakuranesia Foundation also enriched the discussion by providing insights into cultural and social support, while AICI, based at Universitas Indonesia, contributed to the agenda by highlighting the role of technology and artificial intelligence in future collaboration.
From UIN Jakarta, the event was attended by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, the Vice Rector for Cooperation, the Head of the Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation Bureau, as well as the Deans of the Faculty of Educational Sciences and the Faculty of Science and Technology. Also present were the Heads of the Quality Assurance Institute (LPM), the Research and Community Service Institute (LP2M), the Center for International Cooperation Services (PLKI), along with the cooperation team, Public Relations staff, and other support personnel. A reporter from the Antara News Agency was also present to provide live coverage.
The two-hour discussion concluded with a preliminary consensus on the direction and scope of the collaboration. All participants warmly welcomed the cooperation plan as a reflection of UIN Jakarta’s commitment to campus internationalization and human resource development through global partnerships.
The event concluded with an exchange of souvenirs between institutions and a group photo session, symbolizing the spirit of collaboration and friendship among BGU, UIN Jakarta, Sakuranesia Foundation, and AICI. This visit is expected to mark the beginning of a broader and more sustainable strategic partnership in the future.
