UIN Jakarta Students Participate in Setu Tujuh Muara Cleaning Activity

Bojongsari, UIN News Online –  Students of the Islamic Community Development department, Faculty of Da’wa and Communication Science (FIDIKOM) took part in a clean-up activity in the Setu Tujuh Muara area, Bojongsari, Depok, West Java, Wednesday (10/26/2022).

The activity entitled Community Movement to clean the Setu (lake -ed) was carried out by the Student Association of Islamic Community Development Department (HMPS PMI) FIDIKOM UIN Jakarta with the help from local residents.

UIN Jakarta student coordinator, Muhammad Fahriza al-Farizi, said this clean-up activity was part of the HMPS PMI community service work program. He also hopes that this activity will help the community. Setu Tujuh Muara itself was chosen because it was considered suitable as the destination for this social service.

“With this activity, it is hoped that it can increase the awareness of the surrounding community on the importance of maintaining and preserving the Setu Tujuh Muara from unwanted things,” he said.

Tens of kilograms of waste from various types of plants such as water hyacinth, twigs, wild plants, and plastic waste were successfully removed and disposed with the help of the local environmental and hygiene depertment service car.

The involvement of 40 UIN Jakarta students received a positive response from residents. Head of RW 14 Bojongsari, Daud Sulaiman, expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the students in cleaning up the Setu Tujuh Muara area.

On the same occasion, Head of HMPS PMI Ari Sumarna said that cleaning activities in the setu area provided a positive experience for students.

“This activity can foster student collaboration with the surrounding community as well as their awareness to carry out social service. In addition, we are not only empowering the community but we are also participating in the empowerment process,” said Ari. (contributor/zm/usa)
