UIN Jakarta Leaders Gather with Professors to Discuss Campus Development

Main Building, UIN Online News — The leadership of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta held a warm and collegial gathering with university professors at Campus 2 on Thursday, May 8, 2025. This meeting served as a strategic forum for exchanging ideas and collecting input from professors to help shape the future development of UIN Jakarta.

The gathering was attended by Rector Prof. Asep Saepudin Jahar, M.A., Ph.D., along with vice rectors, heads of bureaus, faculty deans, and the director of the Graduate School. Former UIN Jakarta rectors such as Prof. Dede Rosyada, M.A. and Prof. Dr. Hj. Amany Lubis, M.A. also joined the event.

In his address, Rector Asep Jahar expressed appreciation and gratitude for the professors' presence, emphasizing that the event aimed to strengthen the university’s academic community, especially the professors who have played a crucial role in fostering a dynamic and innovative academic environment aligned with modern challenges.

“This gathering is more than just a meeting; it's an essential forum for gathering ideas, constructive input, and even criticism to advance UIN Jakarta. I wholeheartedly welcome collaborations that stem from our shared spirit of togetherness,” he said.

During the event, the Rector presented several strategic developments at UIN Jakarta up to the end of 2024. One notable achievement is the university's sustained presence in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025 under the Theology, Divinity & Religious Studies category, ranked within the 101–150 range globally.

This recognition reflects UIN Jakarta’s academic strength as a center for theological and religious studies, which, according to the Rector, is largely thanks to the professors’ leadership in advancing scholarly research.

The Rector also highlighted the university’s progress in academic journal management, including four journals now indexed by Scopus: Studia Islamika, Ahkam, Etikonomi, and Jurnal Pendidikan dan Penelitian (JP3I). In addition, dozens of journals have received national SINTA 1 and SINTA 2 accreditation.

A total of 49 study programs have now achieved “Excellent” or “A” accreditation, further solidifying UIN Jakarta’s position as a leading Islamic higher education institution in Indonesia.

Additionally, Rector Asep Jahar announced the support of the Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Prof. Dr. K.H. Nasaruddin Umar, and ministry leaders for the integration of educational institutions under the Syarif Hidayatullah Foundation—such as Madrasah Pembangunan, TK Ketilang, and Triguna Utama’s vocational and senior high schools—into UIN Jakarta.

This integration, he explained, is part of the national asset (BMN) restoration and protection efforts, while ensuring educational services continue smoothly. “This is a vital step in strengthening UIN Jakarta's institutional structure and safeguarding national assets,” he emphasized.

Looking ahead, Rector Asep Jahar expressed hope that this gathering will spark stronger synergy between university leaders and professors in transforming UIN Jakarta into a globally recognized Islamic university based on the integration of knowledge and responsiveness to societal needs. “May Allah SWT bless our efforts in developing UIN Jakarta,” he concluded.
