UIN Jakarta Inaugurates Two Professors of Economics

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis inaugurates Ibnu Qizam and M. Arief Mufraini as new professors. The inauguration ceremony was held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta on Tuesday (09/27/2022). Ibnu Qizam was inaugurated as professor of Financial Accounting and Arief Mufraini as professor of Islamic Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UIN Jakarta.

Rector Amany in her speech hoped that the two new professors would carry out their academic duties with full responsibility and high dedication. “On behalf of the Senate of UIN Jakarta, I congratulate you both on your inauguration as professors. May Allah SWT bestow His blessing to you in carrying out this task,” she said.

In the inauguration ceremony, the two professors delivered their respective scientific speeches. Ibnu Qizam delivered a scientific speech titled “Akuntansi dan Globalisasi: Meneguhkan Jati Diri, Menguatkan Daya Komparasi, dan Memaknai Ekonomi“, while Arief Mufraini  delivered a scientific speech titled “Undo the Logic Keuangan Haji: Fenomena Spesifik Sumber Pendanaan Abadi“.

As professor of Financial Accounting, Ibnu Qizam pursued his professional career as an academic by becoming a lecturer at UIN Yogyakarta. In addition to teaching, at this campus he is also trusted to hold a number of positions, such as Head of Islamic Economics Study Program, Faculty of Sharia UIN Yogyakarta, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Islamic Business UIN Yogyakarta, and Head of the Internal Audit Unit at the same campus. Since 2018, Ibnu Qizam has been transferred to become a lecturer at FEB UIN Jakarta.

As an academic, Ibn Qizam has conducted a number of researches in the field of economics. He also publishes books and academic works recorded by intellectual property rights, and dozens of articles published in various national and international journals.

Meanwhile, Arief Mufraini was recorded as lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business of UIN Jakarta. In addition to actively teaching at the Islamic Economics Study Program FEB UIN Jakarta, he also teaches at the Islamic Economics Masters Program and Islamic Banking Doctoral Program as well as the Masters and Doctoral Programs in Islamic Studies at the Graduate School (SPs) UIN Jakarta.

In the Sharia Economics Study Program, he teaches Sharia Microeconomics, Research Methodology, and Sharia Investment and Capital Market courses. While in the Master of Islamic Economics and Doctor of Islamic Banking he teaches Research Methodology and Theory of Islamic Investment and Finance.

At the master and doctoral level at SPs UIN Jakarta, he also taught a number of courses in Islamic economics, including Theories and Methods of Islamic Banking and Finance, Contemporary Issues on Islamic Finance, MA Research Methodology, and Ph.D Research and Methodology.

As an academic, Arief is also productive in writing a number of books and articles published in various journals. For example, he wrote a book entitled Dana Haji Indonesia: Harapan dalam Paralogisme Pengelolaan dan Teorisasi Keuangan Syariah (2021),  Pengenalan Ekonomi Islam (2017), Metodologi Penelitian Bidang Studi Ekonomi Islam (2003), and Akuntansi dan Manajemen Zakat (2006).

Apart from books, his articles have also been published in various accredited national journals and recognized international journals, either as independent authors or with his colleagues. Among them are Promoting Islamic Values to Encourage Labor Performance and Productivity: Evidence from Some Indonesian Industries (2018), The Stability of the Indonesian Sharia Stock Index to Economic Shocks (2020), and Market Structure, Spin-Off, and Efficiency: Evidence from Indonesian Islamic Banking Industry (2011).

Armed with his expertise in the field of Islamic economics, especially in the field of Hajj funding, Arief was once trusted to be involved in the Directorate of Hajj and Umrah of the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs.
