UIN Jakarta Graduate School Lecturer Disseminates Religious Moderation to 754 Hajj Officers in West Java

UPT Hajj Dormitory, UIN Online News - Religious moderation is an effort to present the state as a fair and friendly common home for the Indonesian people to live a harmonious, peaceful and prosperous religious life. Therefore, whatever the religion, ethnicity, race, region, and tribe, have the same right to get fair services. Including in Hajj services, Hajj officers are obliged to serve wholeheartedly to all pilgrims, without discriminating against any differences in pilgrims. Humanizing people and serving pilgrims as human beings is an important part of the expression of religious moderation.

This was stated by Dr. Suwendi, M.Ag, a permanent lecturer at the Postgraduate School of UIN Jakarta, in the Integrated Technical Guidance of PPIH Kloter and PHD of West Java Province Year 1445 H / 2024 M organized by the Regional Office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs of West Java Province at UPT Hajj Dormitory Bekasi, Wednesday (6\3\2024). This activity was attended by 754 Hajj officers consisting of TPHI, TPIHI, TKHI and PHD throughout West Java.

According to Dr. Suwendi, M.Ag, religious moderation invites all citizens in a common life to always embody the essence of religious teachings, including protecting human dignity and building public benefits.

"Serving pilgrims, both healthy and sick, especially the elderly, as an important part of efforts to humanize humans and provide services to the general public, is an implementation of the values of religious moderation," said the SPs UIN Jakarta lecturer who is also actively involved in drafting the concept of religious moderation from 2019 to 2023.

In an effort to implement religious moderation, according to the man born in Indramayu, West Java, religion needs to be transformed into various fields, including in public services and public expression. In the context of public services, religion becomes the foundation for every citizen that in organizing public services must be done fairly to fulfill civil rights without discrimination.

"Every citizen has civil rights, so state apparatus, including Hajj officers, are obliged to provide these civil rights without discrimination. If we behave in a discriminatory manner, then we have not been able to express religious moderation," said Dr. Suwendi, M.Ag.

While in public expression, religion should be able to encourage to provide freedom for every religious believer in expressing their religion and belief in the public space as long as it is in accordance with the applicable legal corridors.

"Respecting and providing space for people who are different from us in carrying out their teachings and beliefs, as long as they are in accordance with the provisions of the law and the prevailing norms of society, is part of the manifestation of religious moderation," said Dr. Suwendi, M.Ag.
