To commemorate Education Day, FITK UIN Jakarta held a National Seminar on Digital Technology

Mahmud Yunus Theater, UIN Online News - Faculty of Education and Teacher Training (FITK) UIN Jakarta commemorated National Education Day by organizing a national seminar with the theme 'Digital Technology in Education to Shape Characterful and Cultured Generations', held at Mahmud Yunus Theater, FITK UIN Jakarta, on Thursday (02/05/2024). The seminar took place both offline and online through Zoom Meeting.

The Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Tholabi, representing the UIN Jakarta rector, welcomed the seminar addressing the highly relevant issue of digital technology in today's demands. Meanwhile, the Dean of FITK UIN Jakarta, Siti Nurul Azkiyah, M.Sc., Ph.D., expressed in her speech that digital technology is an important issue to be discussed in this seminar. "We can utilize digital technology but should not be complacent," she emphasized.

Dr. Uwes Anis Chaeruman, M.Pd., was a speaker in the first session of the seminar with the theme 'Digital Learning that Educates', highlighting that digital technology is something educators must master to keep up with the times. However, Uwes also reminded that digital learning provided should not neglect the Islamic character education that has long been established.

The theme of the second session of the seminar consisted of two speakers with different topics. The first speaker addressed 'Contemporary and Future Islamic Education'. According to Prof. Dr. Abuddin Nata, M.A., Islamic character education should not be forgotten, hence the recommendation to maintain existing education while embracing new, better education. "Islamic education should be tailored according to the user," Prof. Abuddin said.

The next speaker, Prof. Jejen, M.A., in his topic 'Teacher Productivity in the Digital Era', emphasized the need for educators to have adequate skills, collaborative capacity, and good teaching focus. "Teachers should know a lot, be able to do a lot, and produce a lot," he concluded.

Following the presentations, several lecturers and students engaged in discussions with each speaker. The next agenda was parallel sessions with the best paper sources on education issues conducted online.
