Morotai, UIN News Online – The Morotai Regency government welcomes the Outstanding Santri Scholarship program (PBSB) offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences (Fikes) UIN Jakarta.

The socialization of the program was delivered by the Dean of Fikes UIN Jakarta Zilhadia on Monday (11/29/2021) at the Morotai Island Regency Office, North Maluku.

Present in the event, Regional Secretary Andrias Thomas, Head of the Education Office Mukhtar Taher, Head of the Morotai Ministry of Religious affairs regionaloffice, Head of the Ministry of Religious Office of Central Halmahera regional office, and a number of other officials at the Morotai Island Regency Office.

In her presentation, Zilhadia revealed that PBSB is a program of the Ministry of Religion which has been running from 2005 until now. The goal is to attract outstanding but underprivileged students in remote areas to pursue their studies at Fikes UIN Jakarta.

“We want to provide opportunities, especially for students and Madrasah Aliyah graduates of in outer areas,” said Zilhadia

To realize this program, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs held a PBSB for 46 outstanding students throughout Indonesia.

With this program, she continued, it is hoped that the outstanding santris in Morotai Regency will have the opportunity to study at Fikes UIN Jakarta. “After completing their study, they will return as professional health workers,” she said.

Responding to Zilhadia's explanation, Andrias Thomas asked to immediately implement a Cooperation Agreement between Morotai Regency and Fikes UIN Jakarta.

“Hopefully, with this collaboration, santris from the Morotai and North Maluku regions can get the opportunity to study at Fikes UIN Jakarta,” said Thomas.

According to Thomas, many people do not know about this outstanding santri program, so this PBSB socialization is considered very necessary. Besides this program, said Thomas, they also want to know information about other faculties at UIN Jakarta.

“We already know UIN Jakarta. It is an honor for us if our local santris can be accepted in this campus,” he said. (usa/mf)
