Studia Islamika Managed to Achieve the top Five Religious Studies Journals in Asia

Rectorate, UIN News Online – In addition to winning the Best Quartile (Q1) ranking, The Journal of Studia Islamika succeeded in occupying the top five ranks in Asia at the Scimago Journal & Country Rank for the journal of religious studies category.  This makes Studia Islamika one of the four Indonesian higher education journals that successfully represent the ranking of scientific publications on religious social studies in Indonesia at the Asian level.

Scimago mentions that there are no less than 22 scientific journals in the field of religious studies throughout Asia published by various research and higher education institutions in the region.

Citing Scimago data, the Q1 ranking was achieved by Studia Islamika based on the calculation of a number of components obtained over the past year (2021-2022). This journal recorded a score of 10 on the H-index component and 0.193 on the calculation of the citation index.

Published since 1994, Studia Islamika consistently publishes scientific articles and book reviews about Islam in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. A number of influential academics such as Nurcholish Madjid, M.C. Ricklefs, Martin van Bruinessen, Robert W. Hefner, Andrée Feillard, Euis Nurlaelawati, and Karel Steenbrink published their research results in this journal.

In the official release of the Editorial Board of the Studia Islamika Journal of UIN Jakarta, the Managing Editor of Studia Islamika, Oman Fathurahman considers this achievement to prove that Islamic studies in Indonesia are worthy of being a world reference.

“This is a good signal that confirms Indonesia's position in the eyes of the world,” he said.

On the same occasion, PPIM UIN Jakarta Executive Director Ismatu Ropi, Ph.D said the achievement of being one of the best journals has confirmed the consistency of Studia Islamika in voicing Islamic studies in Southeast Asia to the global stage so that the results of studies published in this journal become the most authoritative source in related studies.

He also expressed his appreciation and gratitude to reviewers, editors, and writers who worked together to produce hundreds of quality scientific articles.

 “Therefore, the acquisition of the Q1 ranking in 2022 is proof of the consistency and dedication of Studia Islamika in the academic world,” he said.

For information, The SCImago Journal & Country Rank is a publicly available portal that includes the journals and country scientific indicators developed from the information contained in the Scopus database. These indicators can be used to assess and analyze scientific domains. Journals can be compared or analysed separately. Country rankings may also be compared or analysed separately.
