Rector Inaugurates 1.256 Graduates

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online — Rector of UIN Jakarta Asep Saepudin Jahar inaugurates 1.256 graduates at the 128th Graduation Ceremony of UIN Jakarta held at the Harun Nasution Auditorium building, campus I of UIN Jakarta, Saturday-Sunday (05/27-28/2023).

Rector in her speech congratulate and appreciates the new graduates who have successfully completed their study period at UIN Jakarta, both from the undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.

According to Asep the journey of a student until they graduate is not an easy one, but rather filled with ups and downs and various difficulties. From the learning process in their field of study to struggling with economic hardships, students often face challenges throughout their academic journey.

“Therefore, I congratulate all of you on your success. Your graduation today should be celebrated, rejoiced, and appreciated because no achievement comes without effort,” said Rector.

He also requested that graduates to prepare themselves mentally in facing the competition they will encounter after completing their studies. Apart from the necessity of having skills and knowledge, they also need to demonstrate maturity in facing challenges.

“You are faced with national and global-scale competition. It requires skills, knowledge, and maturity,” he said.

He continued by emphasizing that success in facing competition does not solely rely on high academic achievements but also on personal character and qualities. “Success in society, he added, is determined not only by academic achievements but also by personality and character building. If one easily gives up, gets frustrated easily, gets offended easily, and is unwilling to strive and keep trying, they should not expect to survive in global competition,” continued Asep.

Lastly, Asep requested prayers and support from the students for the future development of UIN Jakarta. According to him, UIN Jakarta will continue to strive and enhance the quality of academic services for the students.

“There are many things we wish to accomplish, such as digitalization, bureaucratic reform, national and international recognition, internationalization, improvement and development of infrastructure, as well as finding capital for the development of facilities and infrastructure,” said Rector Asep.

On the same occasion, Hj Yati Priyati, representing the UIN Jakarta Alumni Association (IKALUIN), requested that UIN Jakarta graduates possess the ability to identify opportunities and have a strong mentality to succeed in post-graduation competitions. Additionally, she urged fellow UIN Jakarta alumni to support and strengthen each other’s contributions to society.

“You are living in the millennial era, while we are living in a transitional era. However, the challenges are the same: being able to identify and seize opportunities that arise,” she said.
