Rector Amany: University Play an Important Role in Achieving SDG Targets

Rectorate, UIN News Online – Univerisity have an important role in achieving all SDG targets, especially targets on the environment, ensuring the availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all, and realizing inclusive, safe, and sustainable urban and residential areas.

This was said by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis in the UI GreenMetric LLDIKTI III Workshop 2022, hosted by Universitas Esa Unggul on Monday (05/09/2022).

According to Rector Amany, UI Green Metric instruments has systematically helped UIN Jakarta in making various changes. The green campus itself, she said, is a paradigm that must be understood by institutional leaders and followed by the entire academic community.

“Through the Faculty of Science and Technology and existing units, UIN Jakarta shows its seriousness in realizing the SDG targets,” said Rector.

To support the Green Campus program, she continued, UIN Jakarta itself continues to increase green open space in its environment. Parks revitalization, making biopores, waste management, and water reservation will continue to be carried out by UIN Jakarta.

“UIN Jakarta has also used solar panels as an environmentally friendly energy source in several locations,” said Rector Amany.

At the end of her presentation, Rector Amany also hoped that this event could be one of the efforts for private and state universities in realizing the SDGs for a better and more sustainable future for all.

It is known that last year, UIN Jakarta achieve the 2021 most sustainably improved university status in the UI GreenMetric World University Ranking 2021 by recording a total score of 6225. This score was obtained from six UI GreenMetric assessment indicators.

UIN Jakarta recorded a score of 1150 on the Setting & Infrastructure indicator, a score of 1000 on Energy & Climate Change, and a score of 1050 on Waste. Furthermore, a score of 650 on Water, a score of 1150 on Transportation, and a score of 1225 on Education & Research. (usa)
