Kusmana and Ismatu Ropi Inaugurated as Professors of UIN Jakarta

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Amany Lubis inaugurates Kusmana and Ismatu Ropi as new professors, Tuesday (05/17/2022) at Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta. Kusmana was inaugurated as a Professor of Tafsir Study while Ismatu Ropi was inaugurated as a Professor of Comparative Religion Study.

Rector in her remarks congratulated the two newly appointed professors. “I hope the newly appointed professors can carry out their duties as well as possible. A professor is expexted to t protect and provide solutions to problems that arise in society through their respective knlowledge,” said Rector Amany.

She also added that to reach the highest career path in the academic world as a professor is not easy, extraordinary struggle and effort is absolutely necessary. “Therefore, it is important to carry out this inauguration event in order to provide appreciation and legitimacy for the status of the highest achievement in the academic field as a professor,” said said.

It is known that both Kusmana and Ismatu Ropi are lecturers at the Ushuluddin Faculty. Kusmana teaches at the Study of Qur’an and Tafsir Department, while Ismatu Ropi teaches at the Study of Religion Department.

Born in Tasikmalaya 24 April 1965, Kusmana completed his undergraduate studies in Tafsir Hadith Department, Faculty of Ushuluddin UIN Jakarta (1995). Subsequently, he completed his master's degree at the Institute of Islamic Studies at McGill University (2000) and a doctorate at Erasmus University of Rotterdam (2017).

As for Ismatu Ropi, he was born in Jakarta on November 15, 1969, he studied at the Department of Comparative Religion at IAIN Jakarta (1993). Then, he completed his master's degree at McGill University and his doctorate at the Australian National University.

The previous week, UIN Jakarta also inaugurated two professors, Prof. Jajang Jahroni Ph.D and Prof. Dr. Ratna Sari Dewi. Jajang was inaugurated as Professor of History of Islamic Civilization at FAH, while Ratna was inaugurated as Professor of English Education at FITK. (ns/usa)
