FST UIN Jakarta Assures Students during Seminar Lectures about Facing the Harsh Reality of the Employment Market for the Agribusiness Program
FST, UIN Online News — The Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University Jakarta held a general lecture on Friday (10/10/2025), answering the graduates of the Agribusiness Program's concern about employment after graduation.
The event, initiated by the Agribusiness Study Program, featured two distinguished speakers: Rohindra Meison, S.P., M.Si., Head of the Sucofindo–Surveyor Indonesia Cooperation Unit, and Yuli Melati Suryaningrum, S.P., President Director of BCA Syariah Bank.
In her opening remarks, Head of the Agribusiness Study Program Rizki Adi Puspita Sari, M.M., conveyed that the topic is highly relevant to the current challenges of the job market. According to her, the question “Where to go after I graduate?” is not merely about securing the first job but about designing a long-term career path and understanding the broader purpose of one’s professional journey.
“Agribusiness graduates from UIN Jakarta possess a distinctive advantage. They have strong moral character that sets them apart from others. As a result, we expect you to understand the full spectrum of the agribusiness sector, from upstream to downstream, master both on-farm and off-farm competencies, and build strong professional networks grounded in ethics and integrity,” she noted.
Meanwhile, Vice Dean II of FST, Prof. Dr. Ambran Hartoni, M.Si., stressed the importance of preparing students to face industry dynamics with adaptability and competence.
“Rest assured, you don't have to worry about it. The professional world awaits those who are prepared to contribute, innovate, and consistently enhance their skills. Thus, FST is committed to producing graduates who are highly competitive in the employment market,” he encouraged.
During the first session, Rohindra Meison shared his experiences working with Sucofindo and Surveyor Indonesia, two national institutions vital to ensuring product quality and boosting industrial competitiveness. He also highlighted the importance of applying the principles of Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling (POAC) as the foundation of modern management.
“In any professional or entrepreneurial endeavor, one must have clear planning, effective systems, dedicated teams with enthusiasm, and proper supervision and evaluation. These four principles are key to maintaining efficiency and measurable results,” he explained.
He further pointed out that the agribusiness sector remains one of the largest contributors to Indonesia’s GDP, offering numerous opportunities in research, marketing, export-import, and supporting service industries.
The next session featured Yuli Melati Suryaningrum, President Director of BCA Syariah Bank, who presented a talk titled “Well-Being for Better Future.” She encouraged students to prepare for the future by maintaining balance across three key aspects of life: social, mental, and financial well-being.
According to her, well-being goes beyond temporary relief or healing; it is about creating a sustainable life balance that fosters productivity and long-term happiness.
"Social well-being involves building networks and engaging with others. Mental well-being includes healthy habits, confidence, and resilience, while financial well-being focuses on charity, saving and investment, and living modestly with gratitude," she concluded.
The general lectures concluded with an interactive discussion and Q&A session between students and speakers. Through this event, the Agribusiness Study Program of FST UIN Jakarta hopes to equip students with broader insights, strong competencies, and integrity-driven character as they prepare to enter the professional world.
