DNK TV UIN Jakarta and PUSAD Paramadina Hold an Essay Competition

Main Library, UIN NEWS Online - DNK TV FIDK UIN Jakarta in collaborating with Center for Religious and Cultural Studies (PUSAD) Paramadina University held a launching and discussion of essay competition with the title Write A Piece For Peace. The event was held on Tuesday (17/10), at the 7th floor of Meeting Room UIN Jakarta Library Center.

This activity purposed to find out how young people in Indonesia address the problem of violence that occurred in the vicinity today. In addition, this competition invited young people to share about the impact of violence on life and the solutions which can be given in order to stop the violence.

This was revealed by DNK TV Manager Secretary Dedi Fahrudin MIKom to UIN NEWS Online via social media channel on Wednesday (18/10). He added that this became a place to train writing skills, it was also at the same time became a medium for channeling positive ideas and concepts from students as the young people.

"Not only as a competition arena but also we try to accommodate the ideas or solutions provided by the participants how to deal with the problems or violence that occurred around them to be resolved, "said Dedi.

Still according to him, the criteria of the essay, there were points where the participants have to commit to keeping the peace. "This competition is reserved for students aged 16 to 25 years. It is seen, that their ages are still vulnerable and carried away by the negative flow from a relationship easily. But it is possible, they actually have brilliant ideas to prevent the occurrence of violence, "he explained.

Based on the information obtained, there were present few speakers which also as the jury of this essay competition at the launching event and the discussion. Among them were Irfan Amalee (Author and Peace Generation), Zen RS (Author, Tirto ID), Feby Indriani (Writer and Journalist), Pangeran Siahaan (Writer and Presenter), and Irsyad Rafsadi (Researcher of PUSAD Paramadina).

For information, for students aged 16-25 wishing to enter the competition, it is expected to send their essays by November 30, 2017 to paramadina-pusad.or.id, and the best essay will be announced on January 17, 2017.
