CIC UIN Jakarta Holds Scholarship Information Session

Ciputat, UIN News Online – Center for International Cooperation (CIC) UIN Jakarta successfully held an Info Session titledf “Scholarship Opportunities and How to Win It”. The activity is expected to motivate and provide the information needed for students and alumni who aspire to pursue higher education at the world's best universities with scholarships.

The event, which was held virtually on Wednesday (09/15/2021), presented a number alumni who won scholarships. Among them are Didin Nuruddin Hidayat, Head of the English Education Study Program at FITK UIN Jakarta as well as Executive Director of the Indonesia Scholarship Center, Husen Haikal al-Hadar, alumni of International Relations Department FISIP UIN Jakarta who is a recipient of an LPDP scholarship to study at Georgetown University and Ari Armadi, Alumni of English Education Department at UIN Jakarta who is a recipient of a Chevening scholarship to study at the University of Manchester, England as a resource person.

The head of CIC UIN Jakarta Dadi Darmadi in his opening remarks revealed that this Info Session activity is a work program of CIC UIN Jakarta in bridging the students and alumni of UIN Jakarta who are interested in pursuing higher education with scholarships.

“Hopefully, this activity can provide the necessary information,” said Dadi.

Meanwhile, Didin in his presentation said that scholarship opportunities are very wide open. The Internet allows students to access as much information as possible about the profile and education system of the destination university and the scholarships provided by many institutions.

Domestically, he explained, there are several sources of scholarships. Among them are the LPDP of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia and the 5000 Doctoral Program of the Ministry of Religion of the Republic of Indonesia. Meanwhile, for international scholarships, there are Chevening Scholarships, Australia Awards Scholarships, Fulbright Scholarships, and others.

“However, the scholarship is only given to people who are capable, both in language and academic skills,” he said.

He also added that scholarships are also given to prospective students who have a track record and are ready to provide benefits to the surrounding environment.

“Scholarships are awarded to candidates who have the capacity as leaders. Because the scholarship recipients are expected to become figures who can bring good changes in their environment,” he added. (usa/zm)
