Arskal Salim: Kemenag Will Follow Up on Meeting Results in Shiraz, Iran

Kemenag, UIN News Online – The director of Islamic Higher Education (Diktis) Arskal Salim who participated in the Islamic World Science Citation Center (ISC) workshop in Shiraz, Iran, said there are four things that will soon be followed up as a result of the workshop meeting in Shiraz.

ISC held a Workshop on Increasing Impact of Research: Strategies and Practical Solutions. The workhsop, which runs from March 4 to 7, 2018 in Shiraz-Iran, agreed on the need for a special concentration agency in the field of journal citation that accommodates Muslim countries belonging to the OIC (Organization of Islamic Conference).

There are four things that Arskal will soon follow up as a result of the meeting. Firstly, the ISC requested Indonesia, in this case the Ministry of Religious Affairs, to become a member of the Steering Committee at the provider of this citation system.

The second, according to Arskal, over 800 journals contained in the network of moraref portals, there are 65 (sixty-five) journals within PTKI which are currently accredited to Kemenristek-Dikti with scores A and B. These 65 journals are expected to be processed for internationally indexed through ISC.

Moraref is an academic portal initiated by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to encourage and assist the digitalization and indexation of scientific journals within the Islamic Higher Education.

"In the future, the entire article contained in the portal moraref@kemenag.go.id will be proposed to be indexed. And then, Moraref will be able to compile a classification or typologization of journals within the PTKI, "said Arskal.

The third step, ISC has a publishing house and is willing to publish a number of international conferences proceedings organized by PTKI in 2018. "The ISC's offer is quite attractive because it does not use the budget of DIPA PTKIN or the Ministry of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia", said Arskal.

While the fourth follow-up, according to Arskal, ISC has offered a number of international workshops on publication indexation and techniques of writing international journal articles for PTKIN lecturers or journal editor. "All four of these things we will soon prepare follow-up steps," said Arskal.

In addition to Arskal Salim, the Diktis team that participated in the ISC workshop were Head of Research and Community Service Subdivision, Suwendi, Institutional and Cooperation Sub-division Head, Agus Sholeh, and some leaders of LP2M UIN Jakarta, Yogyakarta, Surabaya and Aceh.

The meeting was attended by President of ISC, M.J. Dehgahni and a number of researchers, including from Malaysia. ISC was born as a follow-up to the "Islamic Conference of Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research" held by ISESCO in 2008. (usa)
