Ahmad Mukri Aji: Maqashid Sharia Aims to Promote Human Wellbeing

“The essence of Maqashid is to realize the goodness aimed at humans while preventing bad things from happening to them,” said Ahmad Mukri Aji in his scientific oration titled “Implementasi Maqashid Syariah dan Aktualisasinya dalam Kehidupan Masyarakat Indonesia”
Ahmad was inaugurated as Professor of Fiqh Science at the Faculty of Sharia and Law on Wednesday (05/18/2022) at the Harun Nasution Auditorium, campus I of UIN Jakarta.
contemporary Maqashid Sharia emphasizes the system approach of Islamic legal theories that provide protection, human rights development and human resources development. However, this cannot be separated from the existence of maslahah aspired by the humans for the sake of goodness in this world and in the hereafter.
He further said that the implementation of Maqashid Syariah is found in various people's lives. Among others, in the field of Muamalah (sharia economics), the field of Munakahah (Islamic marriage), the field of Jinayah (Islamic criminal law), and the field of Tarbiyah (Islamic education).
The implementation of Maqashid Syariah in the field of Muamalah, for example, is found in the implementation of Islamic economic and financial practices. This field is the main thing in the process of formulating and creating Islamic banking and financial products.
In addition to being a determining factor in producing Islamic economic products, Islamic finance and banking, Maqashid Syariah is also needed in formulating macroeconomic policies, such as monetary, fiscal, and public finance. Included in this is the regulation of Islamic banking and financial institutions to the birth of the fatwas of the National Sharia Council (DSN).
“Therefore, the role of Maqashid Sharia is very strategic. Apart from being a determining factor in the creation of sharia products, it can also be a means of socio-economic control to realize human benefit with philosophical and rational dimensions.
Ahmad Mukri Aji was born in Bogor, West Java, on March 12, 1957. He completed his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees at IAIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta in 1978, 1993, and 2003, respectively. (usa)
