Rectorate, UIN News Online – National State Islamic Higher Education Institution (PTKIN) rejects all kind of radicalism activities that leads to intolerance and violence in the name of religion. Additionally, PTKIN are also committed in making all PTKIN as the center for tolerant and inclusive Islam that respecting diversity.

This was conveyed by the Chairman of PTKIN Rector Association as well as UIN Jakarta Rector Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA on Selamat Pagi Indonesia Metro TV, live at Rectorate Garden, Campus I UIN Jakarta, Monday, (5/15). Also present in the talk show, Deputy III for International Cooperation of The National Counterterrorism Agency (BNPT) Brig. Gen. (Pol) Drs Hamidin.

According to Dede, PTKIN’s stance against all forms of radicalism, intolerance, and terrorism activities that could endanger the integrity of Indonesia and Pancasila has been submitted in the form of Aceh Declaration, read aloud by himself in the opening of Sports, art, research and science week (Pionir) VIII off State Islamic Higher Institution (PTKIN) at UIN Ar-Raniry, Banda Aceh, (4/26). The 5 points of declaration are as follows;

First, PTKIN determined to make four pillars of nationality consisting of the Pancasila, the 1945 Constitution, Bhineka Tunggal Ika and the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) as guidelines for national and state life. Second;  PTKIN to instill the heroic values and attitudes towards our children and student to love and defend our homeland, in order to maintain the integrity and sustainability of NKRI.

Third;  PTKIN to instill and develop the value of Islam Rahmatan lil alamin teachings, inclusive Islam, moderate, and appreciate the nation cultural pluralism. Fourth; to prohibit any activities that contradicts the Pancasila, intolerant, anti NKRI, religious radicalism, and terrorism throughout all PTKIN.

And fifth;  PTKIN to implement the values of the Pancasila and 1945 constitution in three pillars of higher education with full dedication and love to the homeland.

“All PTKIN leaders promised to prohibit various forms of activities that contradict Pancasila and NKRI,” said Dede.

In irejecting the ideas and practices of radicalism, UIN Jakarta will continue to monitor all of student activities in order to keep the students away from any off-campus activity that has a potential in spreading the radicalism movement. “Through Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Student Affairs Bureau, we will continue to evaluate all student activities, starting from DEMA-U, SEMA-U, and student activity units (UKM),” he added.

On the same occasion, Hamidin also said that the pattern of radical propagation today has been taking advantage of technological developments, “There is no need for verbal contact to disseminate the radical understanding, by using chat application and online forum, one can easily propagate his/her ideology,” said Hamidin.

Hamidin also added that BNPT is currently working with UIN Jakarta. BNPT even use UIN Jakarta research findings as the basis for countering the radicalism on the students. “We have also conducted a discussion with the students,” he said. (usa)
