Aula Madya, UIN News Online â€“ The Student Association of Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy study program from the Faculty of Ushuluddin (FU) held a book discussion about Sir Muhammad Iqbal â€œThe Reconstruction of Religious Thought in Islamâ€, Tuesday (10/04), at Aula Madya UIN Jakarta.
Also present at the book discussion event, the head of Aqidah and Islamic Philosophy department Dr Syamsuri MA, as well as Dr Hailun Baghir and Dr Ahmad Nursi as the speakers.
According to Baghir, Iqbalâ€™s way of think significantly influences the religious and political views in the Muslim world. Moreover, his way of think becoming a bridge that was connecting the East and the West, between Islam and other religions, modern and traditional, revelation and reason, between spiritualism and intellectualism as well as science, art, and religion.
According to Nursi, by seeing the fact that Muslim communityÂ in India still lives in misery, Muhammad Iqbal offers the need for moral and political integration of Indian Muslims in the unity of ideas and region, which would later give birth to the spirit of nationalism that is based on the equation of state. Through this idea, Iqbal wants the establishment of a separate community in the form of the State.

For Information, Muhammad Iqbal was a poet, philosopher, and politician, as well as an academic, barrister and scholar in British India who is widely regarded as having inspired the Pakistan Movement.
