West Java Grants Land to UIN Jakarta

Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN NEWS Online— West Java Provincial Government finally handed over an acre of land to UIN Jakarta in the form of grants and will be used for educational purposes. As for the mechanism, it will be regulated later between the provincial government and The Ministry of Religious Affairs.

It is said by the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan or familiarly called Kang Aher after giving a speech in Harun Nasution Auditorium, UIN Jakarta on Friday (7/15). "The land will be fully handed over to UIN Jakarta. The mechanism will be regulated later," he said.

The Land itself is is located at Jalan Kertamukti, Cireundeu, East Ciputat, South Tangerang, Banten, or where the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) is currently standing. Today, UIN Jakarta still have the rights to use the land, it was based on mutual agreement between the West Java government and UIN Jakarta, signed in 2009. The agreement lasted for 30 years and will be renewed every year.

"Although the land has been fully granted to UIN Jakarta, it won’t cancelled the memorandum of cooperation which is signed before. It will be organized later between the West Java government and The Ministry of Religious Affairs, in this case, UIN Jakarta, "said Aher.

Aher said that he is very concerned with education, because education is a source for human development and civilization. Therefore, the educational institutions like UIN Jakarta are encouraged to grow in order to produce the future generation for the country.

Based on UIN NEWS Online records, the land is the only asset of the West Java Government that is not given to The Province of Banten during a division of the province in 2000. In addition to the land, there is also a building known as Wisma Kertamukti. The building previously had functioned as a liaison office or a representative of The West Java Government in Jakarta.

The handover process is officially done when the memorandum of cooperation is signed between the West Java government and UIN Jakarta on November 20, 2009 In Gedung Sate Bandung by the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan and the previous rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof Dr Komaruddin Hidayat.
