UIN Jakarta Launches Professor Acceleration Program

Rectorate, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta launches Professor Acceleration Program for various scientific fields. As many as 10 lecturers from various faculties passed the selection program. The implementation of this program is expected to increase the experts from various scientific fields as well as to fill a position of the professor in UIN Jakarta.

This program is officially launched by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA accompanied by Vice rector of Cooperation Prof Dr Murodi, the Head of Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau (BAUK) Dr Rudi Subiyantoro MPd, and the Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Arskal Salim GP MA on Friday, (2/3) at rector’s office. The preamble was attended by 10 lecturers who successfully passed the selection.

In his remarks, Rector expected that the program participants can follow this activity seriously. They will be trained to write scientific articles indexed by an international rating.

“This program will help you in improving the writing quality, methodology and academic skills so you can be more feasible to be nominated as a professor,” said Rector.

He also explained that professor have a critical role in university. In addition to fostering excellence in research, teaching, professional activities in the academic discipline within the university, the professors also have a role in the knowledge development which is needed by the wider communities.

“The problem we face today is the increasing number of professors who have reached retirement age or already old enough. Through this program, we expect the emergence of the new and young professors who can contribute in the long terms,” he explained.

On the same occasion, Arskal also explained that this program implementation is based on the continuous reduction of professors in UIN Jakarta due to retirement, the desire to improve international scientific publications, as well as the development of general science and Islamic science. “UIN Jakarta need to launch this program because of these reasons,” said Arskal.

Furthermore, he also explained that the program participants were selected through a tight selection process. In addition to administrative, the participants also required to have an adequate English language skill and have proposed scientific articles which are ready to be published. “As a result, only 10 applications that passed the selection,” he added.
