UIN Jakarta Holds AIUA Council Workshop

Ciputat, UIN News Online – UIN Jakarta successfully hosted the AIUA Council Workshop held at the Syahida Inn, Campus 2 UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Monday-Tuesday, (July 10-11th, 2017).

In the opening ceremony, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA said that the establishment of AIUA or Asian Islamic Universities Association will benefit its members. According to Dede, before AIUA, there was a 2nd annual meeting of ASEAN Religious Ministers known as MABIMS (Religious Affairs Minister Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore). There are several issues discussed in MABIMS, such as Human Rights, Hajj, Halal Products and education.

In line with Dede, the President of AIUA who also serves as the Rector of UIN Riau Prof. Munzir Hitami, MA hopes that the activities will produce a guideline for Islamic studies programs quality assurance implementation. Unlike the ISESCO (Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization), AIUA only focuses on Islamic studies quality assurance. While ISESCO, although both Islamic-based quality assurance organizations, is more focused on Islamic university institutions, including the non-religious studies.

This workshop is a closed workshop, and is only devoted to AIUA members, but the committee gives opportunity to the Vice Rectors and Deans of UIN Jakarta to attend the opening ceremony. It intends to introduce AIUA to all UIN Jakarta academic community. (usa)
