UIN Jakarta Booth Crowded with Visitors

Jakarta, UIN NEWS Online – High School students from Jakarta, Bogor, Tangerang, Bekasi, and South Tangerang, last Thursday (2/2/2017), came to visit UIN Jakarta’s booth at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC). Wearing their own respective uniform, they seemed so eager to ask questions and asking for information regarding UIN Jakarta.

UIN Jakarta participated in 2017 Higher Education and Training Exhibition for the umpteenth time which held at JCC Hall A and B. The exhibition itself was a series of activities from the Conference of Indonesian Rectors Forum 2017 officially opened by President Joko Widodo. Besides UIN Jakarta, at least 150 colleges and training institutions that participated in the exhibition, including the military and police academy.

UIN Jakarta booth which located in Hall B, since the opening of the exhibition until afternoon on Thursday almost never empty of visitors. Most of them are students from high school / vocational school or madrasah aliyah, which deliberately invited by the committee.

The students were not only asking about new college admission but also campus location and public transportation route. Knowing that they did come from several regions and have never seen UIN Jakarta before.

“I just know UIN Jakarta Campus from the alumnus that study there. But I don’t know the exact location yet,” said Tuti Suprati, student of madrasah aliyah from Pondok Pesantren Ulul Ilmi, Cibubur, East Jakarta. The same statement was also expressed by Rosyidah, Afiani Sa’adah, and Agung Irawan, another student from the same school.

Unlike the other students who use the shuttle bus provided by the committee, the four students chose public transport to visit the exhibition. "Actually, there is a shuttle bus, but we came alone to have more time for ourselves," said Afiani, representing her friends.

Tuti, Afiani, Rosyidah and Agung, are said to have agreed to enroll themselves to study at UIN Jakarta. Their reasons are, besides UIN Jakarta has the study program to their interest, their commuting distances also a major consideration.

“But it’s not possible to commute daily. We have to rent a place,” said Afiani, who hopes this year she can be accepted at UIN Jakarta. “The four of us choose Social Education as our major,” she continued.

Another visitor, such as Anindita from SMAN 75 Jakarta, was also expressed her interest to study at UIN Jakarta. She hopes to get accepted as UIN Jakarta student even though she will have to compete at the selection process.

“Well I only can hope and pray. I want to study in Department of Pharmacy,” said the 12th grade student of natural sciences.

Despite the immense number of visitors, the booth Assistant seemed still eager to serve. They consist of employees and the number of students who are deliberately involved. (rs)
