The New Ambasaddor of Afghanistan Meet Rector of UIN Jakarta

Rectorate, UIN News Online— In order to initiate a cooperation, Ms Roya Rahmani, An Ambasaddor of Afghanistan for Indonesia meet the Rector Of UIN Jakarta, Prof. Dr. Dede Rosyada MA in his office on Tuesday (14/6).

The Rector was accompanied by Vice Rector of Cooperation Prof. Dr. Murodi M.Ag, Head of Center for International Cooperation Rachmat Baihaky MA, and Prof Cammack from LESPA (Legal Education Support Program-Afghanistan), give a brief explanation about UIN Jakarta to Ms Roya.

“UIN Jakarta, currently has an AUN-QA (ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance) qualification. The number of applicants in UIN Jakarta also closer to University of Gajah Mada (UGM),” said Dede.

He also said that there are three students from UIN Jakarta who originally came from Afghanistan. Two of them are still preparing for Bahasa Indonesia, and the other two is already on their 6th semesters in the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences .

Ms Roya Rahmani who is in charge in 2016, replacing Ghulam Sakhi Ghairat was very impressed with UIN Jakarta.

“Other than Islamic Studies, UIN Jakarta also has the regular faculties, that’s what makes me amazed,” said the woman who holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and International Law from Columbia university, USA in2009.

Few months ago, she added, the participants of the LESPA program, which is consisted from the dean of law faculty from all across Afghanistan universities, tells a deep impression during a visit to UIN Jakarta.

"I hope we can established a major cooperation between UIN Jakarta and the universities in Afghanistan, such as the exchange of lecturers and professors for six months," said the graduate of McGill University, who already know the name of Dede Rosyada when Dede following the Post-Doctoral Program at the same university in 2003.

The government of Afghanistan are also intendending to send more students to UIN Jakarta, especially in the regular study programs, such as the natural sciences or business and economic.

In response, Dede expressed that UIN Jakarta will opening the opportunity for professors from Afghanistan who wants to give public lecture by using Arabic or English. In addition, the Rector of UIN Jakarta will provides a scholarship for the foreign students.

After the meeting, the new ambassador to Afghanistan accompanied by First Secretary Abdul Ghani Hassanzada, took time to pose with the Rector and other officials. (MF/Umar Syarif Audah)
