Rector sent off UIN Jakarta Scout Contingent

Rectorat, UIN NEWS Online— The rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof Dr Dede Rosyada is about to sent off the scout contingent from UIN Jakarta who participate Perkemahan Wirakarya Nasional (PWN) XIII Perguruan Tinggi Keagamaan (PTK) in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi. The ceremonial event was held in Diorama Room, Friday (13/5), Prof Dr Dede Rosyada, the rector of UIN Jakarta, handed over the flag of UIN Jakarta to the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Prof Dr Yusron Razak as leader of the contingent, and embedding the sash from the contingent leader to participants.

In his speech, the Rector appreciated the students who follow the scouting activities on campus. The activity is expected to be a rewarding experience, both during and after their studies, and later serving the community.

“I used to be active in the scouts as pradana, and I am pleased with the scouting activity because it can increase our experience and knowledge,” said rector

Rector also appealed to the student's scout to maintain their discipline and tidiness on campus. Even the scouts are asked to be an example for other students.

“If necessary, the scouts need to motivate the other students to be involved in scouting and student regiment activities,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof Dr Yusron Razak explained in his report, as many as 31 scout representatives from UIN Jakarta who participated in the PWN XIII PTK in IAIN Kendari this year, consists of 1 contingent leader, 8 officials and 22 participants, two of them are foreign students, from Japan and South Africa.

“Even though this activity did not affect the academic achievement, we expect the scout from UIN Jakarta can be a good example among other contingents from all over Indonesia,” he said.

During the camp which will be held on 16-22 May 2016, the participants were placed in tents on the campus and houses (homestay). They will serve the community in various fields, whether social, economic, education, and religion.

As scheduled, the PWN XIII PTK in IAIN Kendari will be inaugurated by the Minister for Religious Affairs Lukman Hakim Saifuddin and attended by a number of officials in Southeast Sulawesi. The event also will break MURI record by organizing the school and university students from all around Kendari to perform the scout wooden stick exercise simultaneously. In addition, the opening ceremony will also feature an ethno fashion carnival parade performance of each contingent. (sfs/ns/umar)
