Rector: Scouting Activities to Create the Future Leader of the Nation

DI8W5806Rectorate, UIN News Online – Scouting activities have a positive value for the students who will become future leaders, not only teaches about discipline and self-reliance, Scouting also teaches about the leadership.

It was said by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada while he is about to sent off the 53 new scouts prospective member of UIN Jakarta in campus garden. “This activity is very positive to create the future leader of the nation,” said Dede.

According to Rector, scouting activity movements in State Islamic Higher Education Institution

(PTKIN) are needed to be more developed in order to encourage the students to participate in the scouting activities. One of which is through the National Wirakarya Campsite (PWN) that is held twice in a year. Through this activity, the scout students are expected to not only do the community services but also can interact and get to know one another.

“These activities are still underway because it has strategic value for character building education,” he said.

Therefore, the rector expected that the scouting education in UIN Jakarta continued its development and expanded its members. From approximately 25 thousand students of UIN Jakarta, only 10 percents follow the scouting education.

“That means you need to encourage and influence other students to be interested in becoming a scout,” said Dede who had once been active in scouting as a Penegak.

The field activities for the new prospective members are held at Mount Buana, Karawang, West Java (usa)
