Rector of UIN Jakarta Inaugurated the Opening of Islam Nusantara Center

Main Auditorium, UIN News Online – Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA inaugurated the opening of Islam Nusantara Center (INC). The inauguration was held on Tuesday, (4/11) at Harun Nasution Auditorium, Campus I of UIN Jakarta.

In his remarks, Rector said that Muslims in Indonesia should fully understand the history of Islamic development in Nusantara and the person who propagate the religious teaching.

“Aside from knowing the propagator, we also need to know their way of teaching. Islam in Indonesia was not suddenly existed. But there are a series of inter-related history. Therefore, INC was founded to re-examine the Khazanah of Islamic Ulemas in Nusantara,” said Rector.

According to the Rector who also serve as INC assembly of Experts chairman, to improve the mentality of Muslim community, they need to develop Islamic professional attitudes.

“Starting with the name of Allah, working with the name of Allah, and dedicated the career with the name of Allah. Insya Allah, there will be no irregularities in the works,” said Dede.

At the same place, the initiator of INC Jazilul Fawaid mentioned that in al-Qur’an, Islamic Professional attitude is manifested as a good deed (amal saleh).

Jazil hoped, INC will be able to make Indonesia as the center for Islamic civilization in the world. Therefore, Indonesia must promote an Islam that emphasizes Rahmatan Lil Alamin.

Also present in the event, Dr Ngatawi Al Zastrauw, Prof. Abdurrahman Mas'ud, Dr KH. Husnul Hakim, Dr Mastuki HS, Dr Zainul Milal Bizawie, Director of Post Graduate School (SPs) UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Masykuri Abdillah and INC Director Ginanjar Sha'ban.

Islam Nusantara Center (INC) is an institution that seeks to create tolerant and moderate Islam based on Aswaja (ahlus sunnah wal jama'ah) values, local, and Indonesian wisdom in accordance with the ideals of the Ulemas of the Nusantara.

INC was founded because Islam Nusantara is widely regarded as a peripheral, a syncretic Islam, that is far from the "original" form that is existed and developed in the Middle East. (usa-im)
