“Bismillahirrahmanirrahim, I hereby inaugurate the commencement of the new wall climbing tower for Arkadia,” said Rector as he sowed the pebble stones.

The climbing wall tower is intended as a means of practicing for the rock climbing or walls climbing enthusiast.  The tower is owned by the Student Activity Unit (UKM) Arkadia, one of the student organizations at the university level.

According to the secretary of Arkadia Saifuddin Zuhri, the construction of the “Wall Climbing Lead” tower was done because the older tower has been unsuitable for use. In addition to the rusty iron, the wood walls were already fragile. He also added that the ministry of sport and youth affairs of the Republic of Indonesia already provide development funds amounting to Rp 190 million, While the construction is done by pt Mans Trails Activity as a contractor. “However, we did not receive the funds in cash but only its physical (tower –red),” he said.

The new tower location was right next to the old tower with a position overlooking the parking area. A tower of 15 meters and width of 3 meters was constructed with the construction of steel and fiberglass walls.

Rector also said the construction of the wall climbing tower for sports activities was very positive to provide soft skills to the students. He also suggested that Arkadia holds a competition among high school students to promote UIN Jakarta.

He also reminded the students not to be too long in the organization. In addition to activities in the organization, students still have to think about their academic activities in order to quickly finish their study.

“You should keep in mind that your primary obligation is to complete the study quickly,” said Rector. (ns/ika p/umar)
