Rector: Civil Servant should be Ready to Serve the Society

Auditorium, UIN NEWS Online – Civil Servants (PNS) of UIN Jakarta should have the commitment to be ready to serve the society loyally. Community service is the main duty for a civil servant so it requires hard work.

That was said by the Rector Prof Dr Dede Rosyada when he took the oath of 114 UIN Jakarta new PNS at Auditorium Harun Nasution, Thursday (23/3/2017). Also present in the event, Vice Rector of General Administration Prof Dr Abdul Hamid, Vice Rector of Cooperation Prof Dr Murodi, Dean of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Dr Arief Mufraini, Dean of Faculty of Syari’ah and Law (FSH) Dr Asep Saepuddin Jahar, Dean of Faculty of Psychology Prof Dr Abdul Mujib, Dean Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah Dr Hamka Hasan, Vice Dean of General Administration Faculty of Social and Political Dr A. Bakir Ihsan, AAKK Bureau Chief Drs Zaenal Arifin MPd.I, Planning and Finance Bureau Chief Drs Subarja MPd, Public Administration and Civil Service Bureau chief Dr Rudi Subiyantoro, Director of  Madrasah Pembangunan Dr Bahrissalim, and Director of Syarif Hidayatullah Hospital dr Ismet Alimin.

Rector said duties and responsibilities of a civil servant are not easy. Apart from having to show great discipline, they also have to become a role model in the community. Even civil servants are also required to close the curtain on the secrets of the state, except on the orders of superiors.

"That’s why even the littlest government policy should go through a thorough consideration. If not it will undoubtedly arise various interpretations that can cause a commotion in the community,"he said.

In the other hand, the Rector said that currently UIN Jakarta is trying to become a worldwide recognized university. Recognition was already beginning to show with the signing of cooperation along with 12 universities in Tainan, Taiwan, in the field of science and technology development recently. Followed by hosting the 1st International Conference in the Indonesian-Malaysian English Language Teaching (I-MELT), which was attended by 11 countries in Asia, Europe, and America.

"The two international event at least re-affirms that UIN Jakarta has gained good recognition and trust of the international community," he said.

Meanwhile in order to expand the space for institutional, UIN Jakarta is trying to become a campus that has full autonomy to cut through bureaucratic procedures that has been an obstacle for a long time. If the campus autonomy is successful, UIN Jakarta will easily take various policies internally.

All 144 newly sworn PNS are taken from 3 institutions, consists of 31 UIN Jakarta regular employees, lecturers and administrative staff, 58 employees of UIN Jakarta Hospital, and the remaining 25 are the employees of Madrasah Pembangunan (usa).
