PSGA UIN Jakarta Review on Gender Textbooks

Diorama Building, UIN NEWS Online– Center for Gender and Children Studies (PSGA) UIN Jakarta did a review of textbooks of gender studies in Diorama Building UIN Jakarta, Wednesday (10/08). The review was made to consider that gender education was the key to the realization of gender equality within the university as an important instrument in transferring knowledge, awareness, and the norms of society.

The event attended by lecturers and researchers in the field of gender study begin with the speech by the Chief of Center for Gender and Children Studies UIN Jakarta Ir. RahmiPoernomowati, M.Sc. Also present as guest speaker Islamic Gender Specialist who is also the Professor of UIN Jakarta Prof. Dr. Zaitunnnah Subhan MA.

In her speech, Rahmi said, gender awareness must be taken to formulate a national education policy through gender-based curriculum. According to him, the gender equality integrated curriculum model in the education curriculum is principle matter. "Because students are expected to be able to have in depth understanding of gender equality importance," she said.

Meanwhile, in her presentation, Zaitunnah said gender discourse can be included in formulation of material and illustrations explaining the position of men and women in various spheres of activity. "Therefore, the existence of gender textbook occupies an important position, because of its high intensity involvement with students." She added. (SyarifaeniFahdiah/ika p/rany)
