PSGA UIN Jakarta Holds Responsive Gender Workshop

RSU, UIN News Online – Center for the Study of Gender and Child (PSGA) UIN Jakarta holds Responsive Gender Curriculum Workshop, Thursday, (2/23) at RSU UIN Jakarta. This activity is aimed to giving an explanation about the equal of men and women representation. This activity is attended by several department head, deputy deans of academic affairs, the head of PSGA from Universitas Pamulang, Institut Ilmu Quran, Universitas Ibnu Khaldun Bogor, and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta.

Present at the event, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA, Deputy Rector of Academic Affairs Dr Fadilah Suralaga MA, Gender Mainstreaming Expert Team Coordinator of the Islamic Religious College (PTKI) Dr Susanto, and Syahrul from the Ministry Women's Empowerment and Child Protection.

In his presentation, Rector told about the importance of gender responsive culture implementation, both in learning, and institutional management.

“In terms of institutional management at UIN Jakarta, for example, the leaders of UIN Jakarta are continue to work in balancing the men and women representation, I think UIN Jakarta will be ready to reorganize the gender mainstreaming internally,”  said rector.

At the same place, Susanto explained that the disclosure of various cases of sexual crime in several regions in Indonesia raises several concerns. While women, children, and other vulnerable groups still dominate as the object of the crime.

“When society faced with the complexity of the gender-based violence problems, the academic culture is expected to take the role in order to prevent and minimizing the occurrence of crime,” he said.

He also added that PTKI need to develop an academic culture as base reinforcement of perspective, sensitivity and skills, so that alumni can be a part of the solution. (usa)
