No Seniority in PBAK
Diorama Room, UIN NEWS Online –Vice Rector for Student Affairs Prof. Dr. Yusron Razak again reminded that the new student orientation activities in the form of Introduction of Academic and Student Culture (PBAK) which will be held in the coming week must be run smoothly as the expectation. PBAK activities must be academic and avoid elements of hazing or physical violence.
"We remind you once again the activities of PBAK should reflect the academic quality. The new students should not be used as a punching bag of senior students," Yusron said when giving a briefing at the coordination meeting preparation of the implementation of new student PBAK UIN Jakarta academic year 2017/2018 at Auditorium Harun Nasution, Monday (14/08/2017). The meeting was attended by Vice Rector for Academic Affairs Dr Fadhilah Suralaga, Head of Administration Bureau of Academic, Student Affairs and Cooperation Drs Zaenal Arifin MPdI, Head of Finance Siti Sugiarti, Head of Cooperation Drs Zulkifli Noor, and a number of sub-heads. Also present were the executors of the Student Senate (Sema) and Student Council (DEMA) as well as representatives of student activity units (SMEs). The meeting was led by Head of Sub Division of Student Talent R. Trisno Riyadhi MM.
Meanwhile, Fadhilah Suralaga also reminded, the activities of PBAK should be more directed to the introduction of the vision and mission of UIN Jakarta. In accordance with the objectives of PBAK, new students are important to know and understand in depth the process of lectures that will be experienced later. Not only in the academic field but also in the field of student affairs, both administratively and campus organizations.
"We support the PBAK activities and it must be implemented, programmed, structured and coordinated properly with each other," he said.
Yusron said PBAK's activities from previously known as Academic and Student Introduction Orientation (OPAK) both have the same substance, which is introducing campus environment to new students so that they know how the learning process held in UIN Jakarta.
In its implementation, students will not only be recognized solely about academic and student activities but also about state defense. According to the plan, the introduction of state defense material will be delivered directly by the Ministry of Defense after the opening ceremony in the field.
The material, said Yusron, has become a program of ministry of defense that state defending is one of the government programs that should be given to new students when orientation in all universities.
“So, for the state defense materials, only Ministry of who has authority. We leave it to them completely," he said.
On the other hand, Yusron also hopes that the whole series of PBAK activities will run well and on schedule. The implementation of PBAK starts on 21-24 August 2017 which begins with a rehearsal event on 21 August 2017. The time starts at 07.00 until 17.00.
He asserted, if there is a committee from any department at who request additional time beyond the time set it becomes the responsibility of the leadership of each faculty." In the context of the PBAK activity at 17.00 it is over. So, if someday someone asks for additional time then the responsible faculty leader," he said.
PBAK event themed "Transform Islamic values and Individuality of Inclusive and Character" will be implemented by Dema University and Faculty Dema with supervision of Sema respectively as well as elements of faculty and university leaders. A total of 6,000 new students will pack the campus and attend the event for four days including rehearsal. (usa)
