Muslim Delegation from Mindanao to Learn Islamic Education System in UIN Jakarta

Rectorate Building, UIN News Online – To increase the educational services for the Muslim Mindanao children, the delegations from the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Philippines visited UIN Jakarta, Thursday, (9/15).

The delegations was composed of Undersecretary Bureau of Madaris Prof Dr Alzad T Sattar, Assistant Secretary for Academics Departement of Education Mr Marjuni Maddi, Executive Director Bangsamoro Dr Mohammad Yacob, Chairman Technical Working Group Tarbiya Committee Dr Ismail Abdullah, Dr Abdulmanan Gayak, Mr Norden Husain, Mr Duma Mascud, Ms Julie Maliga, and Muslim Education Specialist Office of Madrasah Education Mr Mohammad Nhor.

The Rector of UIN Jakarta, Prof Dr Dede Rosyada in his speech said that Indonesia and Philippines have come from similar language tree which is originated from the Malayo-Polynesian language family. So it was a right choice to do a comparative study in UIN Jakarta. Dede also said that Indonesia is the country with the largest Muslim educational institutions. “UIN Jakarta is the largest Islamic Universities in Indonesia.” He said.

Furthermore, Dede explained, UIN Jakarta to continue its efforts to be recognized as a world-class university on a global scale. One of its components is the number of International students studying in UIN Jakarta.

“To support the program, UIN Jakarta and the Ministry of Religious Affairs will offer scholarship opportunities for International students who want to study here.” He explained

At the same occasion, Prof Dr. Alzad T Sattar expressed that the visit is conducted to study the educational system that is applied in UIN Jakarta and several other Islamic institutions in Indonesia that can be adapted to the needs of the Muslim children of Mindanao.

The meeting which held in the form of the discussion resulted in some important things that can be implemented, such as by sending the students and teachers to pursue higher education in UIN Jakarta.

“We want to apply a proper and better education system in our region. Hopefully, the results from this discussions and observations can be adapted to the schools and universities in the Philippines.” He said.

Also present at the meeting: Vice Rector of Cooperation Prof Dr Murodi MA, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs Fadhilah Suralaga Msi, the Deans, and several UIN Jakarta officials. (mf/ika p/umar)
