Diorama Room, UIN NEWS Online- The Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) UIN Jakarta hold workshop on “Preparing And Submitting Abstract International Academic Events and Presenting Paper in English at International Conference”, Thursday (01/05), at Diorama Room UIN Jakarta.

The event was to support the research and scientific publications efforts of UIN Jakarta academicians, it was officially opened by the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr. Dede Rosyada MA, and attended by the Chairman of LP2M Prof Dr Arskal Salim GP MA, and Dr. Zulfan Tadjoeddin (Senior Lecture of the University of Western Sydney) as a speaker at the event.

The workshop followed by at least 60 participants, the rector appreciated the conducted events that were expected able to increase scientific publications among UIN Jakarta academicians.

"The workshop is expected to be a stimulus for the academicians of UIN Jakarta to continue improving their Scopus indexed scientific publication. Therefore, participants need to follow thoroughly to speaker learning materials, so lots of new knowledge will be absorbed and applied, "the rector advised.

At the same spot, Arskal Salim clarifies some standardized grounding points of an abstract whether the abstract submitted to international conference is feasible or still need to be refined.

"To make a good and concise abstract, at least five main points outlined, i.e.: context, intention, method, scope, and conclusion. These five main points are very important, because an abstract should be able to describe the contents of the background studies to research findings or arguments," he explained.

In line with Arskal, Zulfan discussed about how to give a good presentation outlook in presenting the research findings in front of the audiences. There are significant differences between presenting and teaching in the classroom since the audience is not the people who do not know about the topic of research discussion. They understand or even expert in our raising topic in a conference.

"It cannot be denied that Power Point becomes very important tool in delivering the objectives and the research findings at the international conference. A Power Point slides in an international forum at least included three main points that are: size of the letters must be readable, simple design, and clear logic and structured, "said Zulfan.

According to Zulfan, we must understand the power point program as a tool to assist and facilitate our research findings.

"Power Point should be Simple and easy to understand, and help you communicating your research findings,” he said. (im/usa)
