Lecturer from UIN Jakarta Achieves a Postdoctoral 'Move-in Louvain' Fellowship

Rectorate, UIN NEWS Online- Faculty of Sharia and Law (FSH) and PPIM UIN Jakarta researcher, Dr. Ayang Utriza Yakin MA achieves a post-doctoral 'MOVE-IN Louvain 2016-2018' scholarship program from the European Union (EU), in Belgium. With this scholarship, Ayang will be conducting a research  in l'Institut de Recherche Pluridisciplinaire Religions, Spiritualités, Cultures, Sociétés at the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL), Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, during the next two years. This was conveyed by Ayang to UIN NEWS Online, Wednesday (20/07).

To celebrate the achievement, the Belgium Ambassador to Indonesia, Patrick Herman, invite him over for lunch and discussion at his residence in Jakarta, Monday (7/18). On that occasion, the Ambassador of Belgium hope that the postdoctoral scholarship that is obtained by Ayang can give contribution to the academic tradition in Indonesia, Belgium, and the world. With the scholarship he obtained, he need to go to Belgium before this December. "Insya Allah, from the beginning of December 2016, i will become a post-doctoral researcher-lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium, for the next two years,” he said.

Based on the Embassy of Belgium records, this achievement makes Ayang as the first academician from Indonesia who obtained the Postdoctoral 'Move-in Louvain' Fellowship from the European Union in Belgium. Through the program, Ayang will research the practice of Islamic law and Islamic Economics / Sharia in European countries (Belgium, France, and Britain) and its comparison with Indonesia. During his research, he will researching two key themes, which is The influence of Islamic normativity in the Trial Judgment in Cases of Divorce and Management, Entrepreneurship and Islam: Halal Business / Sharia Business.

UIN NEWS Online noted, the MOVE-IN Louvain program, which includes the postdoctoral scholarships program is a transnational fellowship program developed by the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) in collaboration with the Université de Namur (UNamur) and the Université Saint-Louis (USL-B), The program itself is fully supported by the European Commission (Marie-Curie Actions). In line with the European Research Area (ERA), the aims is to gives full support for the mobility of the researchers from around the world. The awardees themselves are selected through a rigorous and transparent selection process.

In a separate place, Dean of FSH Dr. Asep S. Jahar expressing his happiness after  Ayang successfully achieved the Move-in Louvain fellowship program from The European Union. "It is matched with the expectations from The Rector of UIN Jakarta where all lecturers should perform and take part in the international world," he said. Ayang who once studied at Al-Azhar University and EHESS Paris also expressed her gratitude to the Rector of UIN Jakarta and a number of professors from UIN Jakarta and several universities in the world.

His success in achieving the scholarship is a recommendation from Prof. Beaudouin Dupret (ENS, Paris), Prof. Louis-Leon Christiaans (UCL), Prof. Edwin P. Wieringa (Cologne University), Prof. Nathalie Bernard-Maugiron (Sorbonne), Prof. Remy Madinier (EHESS, Paris), Prof. Mason Hoadley (Lund University), and Prof. Mark Cammack (Souhtwestern Law School, LA), Prof. Muhammad Ali (University of California at Riverside / UCR), Prof. Munim Sirry (Notredame University), and Prof. Arskal Salim (University of Western Sydney / UWS and UIN Jakarta).
