It was said by Slimi in front of the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA, Head of the Institute for Research and Community Service (LP2M) Prof Dr M Arskal Salim GP MA, and a number of visiting professor program participants in the farewell meeting event for visiting professor and research fellowships participants, in Uni Club of Harun Nasution Auditorium, Thursday, (12/1).

In his speech, Slimi expects that with UIN Jakarta affiliate program in Canada, the campus will be the first leading Islamic University in North America.

“Until today, there are no Islamic Universities to be recognized in the North America and Europe, and it has become a big challenge for the Muslim community living in the West,” said Slimi.

A partnership between UIN Jakarta and CCDS, he continues, could make this plan into reality. He made sure that this program will not burden UIN Jakarta financially and logistically.

In the same occasion, the Rector of UIN Jakarta Prof Dr Dede Rosyada MA welcomed the development plan for UIN Jakarta to be recognized at the International level.

“This scheme is quite interesting because it encourages the acceleration process of UIN Jakarta Internationalization in North America,” said Dede.

The faculty which is suitable for this plan, he continues, is the Faculty that already accredited by AUN-QA. But still, he asserts, UIN Jakarta needs to studying the relevant legislation before executing this cooperation proposal. (ika p/umar)
