FST UIN Jakarta and International Islamic University of Malaysia held International Conference

NICT Building, UIN News Online – The Faculty of Science and Technology UIN Jakarta in collaboration with International Islamic University of Malaysia (IIUM) held International Conference on Information & Communication Technology for the Muslim World (ICT4M) 2016, Tuesday- Thursday, (November 22-24), in NICT building of UIN Jakarta. The theme for this year’s conference is “IS 4.0: A Sustainable Socio-Digital World”

The conference was inaugurated by the Mayor of South Tangerang City Airin Rachmy Diany SH, M.Kn., MH. Also present at the conference, Deputy Rector of Research and Innovation IIUM Prof Dr Wahiddin, DSc, and Deputy Rector of Academic UIN Jakarta Dr. Fadhilah Suralaga M.Si. The event itself was attended by some experts, lecturers, and researchers of the science and technology from several countries.

In her opening speech, Airin hopes that this conference could stimulate the science and technology researchers to find the best way in utilizing the information technology for the public interest, including Indonesia. “This event is important for the development of Information Technology. This field is certainly much needed in providing products and technology innovations, especially for better public services,” she said.

On the same occasion, Wahiddin expressed that Indonesia and Malaysia should work together in the field of research and technological development for the benefit of Ummah.

Meanwhile, Fadhilah expected that the conference is not merely ceremonial; it must be able to produce output for the development of information technology which is needed by the society. “The adequate Information and Technology support can encourage the Ummah to get a more feasible life,” she said.

This conference is attended by a number of experts such as Dr Mohd. Azzman Sharifadeen Bin Tengku Ibrahim from the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, and Dr Rudi Limanto from d-SIRTII/CC (Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure/Coordination Center). (zm/ika p/umar)
