FITK UIN Jakarta English Education Student Association held News Anchor Competition

FITK Lobby, UIN News Online – English Education study program student association of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teachers Trainings (FITK) UIN Jakarta held “News Anchor Competition” for secondary school students for Jabodetabek area. The event was opened on Friday, (11/4), in the lobby of FITK.

According to the chief of organizing committee Farhana Attamimi, The competition was followed by at least 17 senior secondry school students and 34 junior secondary school level students.

“This competition aims to train the students to be proficient in English and also proficient in reading the news.” She said.

Farhana added that competition carried out in two stages, the preliminary and final stages. The preliminary stage for the senior secondry school students will be held on Friday (4/11), and junior secondary levels on Saturday, (5/11) and the final will take place on 9-10 of November.

“The winner will get trophies and certificate as a prize.” She added.

On the first day, the students enthusiastically participate in the competition. Like the real news anchor, they show their news reading talent in front of the jury.

Herlina Novita, the student from SMKN 17, admitted that she is happy to be able participate in the event. Although she doesn’t have any experience in the news reading, but her performance was enough to convince her and she hope to get into the final round.

“I’m bit nervous, but I’m sure that I can reach the final.” She hoped. (ns/ika p/umar)
