Dozens of Foreign Students Study in UIN Jakarta

Rectorat Building, UIN NEWS Online— As many as 14 foreign students from Turkey, the Philippines, Thailand, and Japan accepted as a student of UIN Jakarta in the academic year 2015/2016.

"Two people from Turkey, one of the Philippines, one of the Japanese, and 10 from Thailand," said Rachmat Baihaky MA, Head of the Centre for International Cooperation (PLKI) in his office, PLKI office, Monday (08/31/2015).

Baihaky said, Emine Senturk and Sahan Safiye Selma, both of them came from Turkey and admitted in the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teaching Science (FITK) majoring in Raudhatul Athfal Teaching Program (PGRA), Arafat Gambao Abdulcader form the Philipppines admitted in the Faculty of Economic and Business (FEB) majoring in Islamic Banking, Michiho Tani from Japan, admitted in the Faculty of Adab and Humanities (FAH) majoring in History Islamic of Civilization.

Mean while, 10 students from southern Thailand namely, Bunyamin Ya-koh admitted in the FEB, Yamaruddin Songsiri in the Faculty of Social and Political Science (FISIP), Ayup Lateh in FITK majoring in Islamic Teaching Studies, Suraida Dahoh in FAH, Nureesa Salaemae in Faculty of  Psychology, Wilasinee Ma’ in FISIP, Amamar Zoohen in Faculty of Dirasat Islamiyah (FDI), Sumaiyah Bueto di FITK majoring in Arabic Teaching Studies, Wanmuniroh Waeslaemae in FITK majoring in English Teaching Studies, and Anneesa in Facultty of Da’wa and Communication Science (FDIK) majoring in Islamic Broadcast Communication.

“9 students of Thailand receives scholarship from Ministry of Religion of Republic of Indonesia, in cooperation with Soo Botoh Southern Thailand, while Anneesa is in her own expense,” said Baihaky.

This year, Baihaky continued, there was no difference in nominal tuition fee for bachelor program, either for domestic or international students. This was purposed to increase the amount of foreign students in UIN Jakarta.

“Last year, the tuition fees for foreign students almost doubled from domestic students. Starts of the academic year 2015-2016, tuition fees for domestic and foreign students is equated, based on Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta Decree No. 05 Year 2015 dated April 17th 2015,” said the Lecturer of Communication Technology Development in FDIK UIN Jakarta.

According to PLKI data, there were 82 foreigners registered as students of UIN Jakarta which came from several countries, including South Africa, Russia, Malaysia, Thailand, Somalia, Palestine, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Tajikistan, South Korea, Japan, Iran, Kenya, Timor Leste, and Yemen, and Egypt.
